Recently occupant protection is becomes important of each country, the New Car Assessment Program tests are to be strengthened. Korea NCAP and Euro NCAP crash test of the enhanced regulation will apply in 2015. The weight of AEMDB is 350kg heavier and 200mm wider than the Progressive MDB. This paper is purposed to analyze dynamic body deformation comparison between Korea NCAP side crash test with progressive MDB and AE-MDB. Through this analyze try to find out the relationship between the vehicle deformation and Occupant Injury

Recently, the interest in vehicle safety is increasing, so engineers continuously work on reducing occupant injuries from the frontal, side, rear crash as well as roll over crash. In related to roll over crush, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) enhancing the safety standard on roof crush resistance, FMVSS No. 216 is amending some part of the test procedure. Also, in order to nominate a vehicle for the Top Safety Pick award in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the vehicle must have good ratings in all four Institute tests. In case of roof crush resistance test, strength to weight ratio (SWR) of 4.0 times must measured within 5 inches of plate displacement to obtain good rating. CAE simulation has become a useful tool to optimize the roof structure. This paper shows the correlated CAE results with a physical test. And the improvement of Roof Crush resistance is conducted by using correlated CAE model.

Growing needs for young people and second car of family are causing the increase of small vehicle. It’s concerned about lower leg injury in a frontal crash of small car because of short engine bay area and small legroom. In addition, footrest for driver’s convenience may cause more severe injury of lower leg in the accident. For this reason and according to strengthened safety requirement, it takes effort to reduce the lower leg injury. In this paper, occupant behavior CAE for the small vehicle which is installed footrest is conducted. This paper demonstrates y-moment of lower leg is main factor of tibia index and shows footrest optimization proposal for the improvement of lower leg injury.

Assembling modules are of great importance to vehicle assembling procedure. The bolts are widely used in assembling module procedure. Decide initial optimal value of clamping force with roles of bolt and external force of module. To generate initial optimal value of clamping force on assembling module is very important. To clamp between module and module by bolt, consider with clamping area characteristic and external force. In this procedure, residual clamping force is changed by reinforcement of bolt area. We recognize to study distinction between initial clamping force and residual clamping force by different reinforcement shape.
