        The subject of this paper is to comprehend the underlying meaning of idioms derived from an ancient event. In case of novice Learners, they would definitely be unaware of the underlying meaning through the pronunciation of Chinese character, its meaning, and denotative definition idioms have. However, as for the current textbook, the extensional definition is published in company with the underlying meaning of idioms derived from an ancient event. The learning process of being able to grasp the underlying meaning is nonexistent. Consequently forementioned problems promote awareness of the method for composition of units about idiom derived from an ancient event. A couple of methods are suggested. The first thing is to make teaching-learning method which can acquaint Learners with the underlying meaning. The point is that understanding the underlying meaning through the learning process which has the phase of the fundamentals, applications, and summary. The second thing is method for the composition of units. In case of the composition of chapters, each sub-unit has its own stages respectively. And then each sub-unit, in the chapter, functions effectively through teaching-learning activities related to comprehending the underlying meaning of idioms. It is the phase of the fundamentals, applications, advances, and summary between each sub-unit. Both teaching-learning activities and method for the composition of units, debated in this paper, are applicable to a text of Chinese characters, such as short sentences, prose, and Chinese poetry. Chances are the abovementioned suggestions are realized according to application of a principle to practice.
