Studies that vehicles are developed with driving support device for economic driving by itself even if same condition driving patterns are the most important issues. Especially among the active device, this paper is studied about Active Eco that controlled acceleration, up/down shifting logics depending on the vehicle velocity. Through these control logics, how can drivers save the vehicle gases and which APS section is the best for efficient economy driving and fuel economy using Active Eco.

There are many effort on Eco-drive. So Governments and vehicle companies are paying attention and effort to encourage economical driving practices for drivers and develop eco-vehicles. To encourage economical driving for drivers is presented as much more efficient method than improving vehicles performance. So A study on eco-driving display devices is concerned and variety study is progressing about it. However, Those kind of devices arent able to offer information about variety of driving conditions and only show basic driving information and fuel economy usually. So This study introduces display method on real-time presented driving information items, visual/auditory items and driving evaluation items as variety of driving conditions.

Research of passenger vehicles are recently progressing about emission factor domestically. However, Medium&Heavy duty vehicles research pertaining to GHG emission factor are not vulnerable. So An objective of this study is to give practical information that could be used for calculating medium&heavy duty vehicles" GHG Emission factors. Development targets of this study are medium&heavy duty vehicles and buses. Also, Emission factors are separated between diesel and CNG. Thus, each six vehicles, totally 12 vehicles are tested. All vehicle emissions are measured with chassis dynamometer and exhaust gas emission analyzer. The emission factor results are elicited from each GHG. NIER modes are used in this test.

This study is presented to show that relation among maximum acceleration, acceleration, fuel economy and CO₂ according to vehicle velocity. And also, we performed experiment and analysis about acceleration & fuel consumption under driving on the actual road. Maximum Acceleration according to vehicle velocity is estimated that the first beginning of vehicle movement is higher than any other section, and it tend to show that is decreasing according to an vehicle velocity increasing. Fuel economy is decreasing like nonlinear according to increase acceleration. On the other hand, CO₂(g/㎞) shows that is increasing linearly. In case of gradual acceleration, Fuel consumption doesn’t exceed 5㏄/sec, driven by the acceleration was less than 2 ㎨.

Eco driving is considered as one of good solutions for high fuel consumption rate and low concentration of green house gases. Generally, fuel economy is defined as km/L, but vehicle velocity does not considered. The comparison of fuel economy for several vehicles is only possible to the same vehicle speed conditions. To solve the problems, the authors define the eco-index and this study shows the characteristics of eco-driving by using the eco-index.
