Likert형 태도 척도의 문항진술방식에 따른 척도 및 문항 특성 비교

이 연구는 Likert형 태도 척도의 문항진술방식이 척도 및 문항의 측정학적 특성에 미치는 영향을 경험적으로 검증하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 선행연구들을 바탕으로 ‘과학에 대한 태도 척도’의 긍정형 척도와 부정형 척도를 개발한 후, 이를 활용하여 문항진술방식에 따라 척도 및 문항의 측정학적 특성에 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 중학교 2학년 학생 595명이었으며, 이 중 긍정형 척도에 응답한 피험자는 255명, 부정형 척도에 응답한 피험자는 340명이었다. 분석 결과, 척도 수준에서는 요인 구조와 능력 모수에서 유의한 차이가 나타났으며, 문항 수준에서는 문항 변별도, 문항 모수(문항의 평균 곤란도), 성별에 따른 차별기능문항에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 Likert형 척도를 활용하여 태도를 측정할 때에는 문항진술방식에 따라 결과 분석 및 해석에 유의해야 함을 시사하고 있다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of item wording (positive and negative item wording) on scale and item characteristics of Likert-type attitude scale. For this study, two ‘Attitude Toward Science Scale (specifically ‘positive scale’ and ‘negative scale’)’ were developed based on literature review. The subjects of the study were 595 second grade students at 21 classrooms within 2 middle schools who were divided into the 255 students in positively worded scale group and 340 students in negative scale group. In scale level, the result of analyzing content factors and person parameters showed the difference between positive scale and negative scale. In item level, the result of analyzing item characteristics (item discrimination, mean of step difficulty, and gender-related differential item functioning) also showed the difference between positive scale and negative scale. In conclusion, this study shows that positive and negative scales of ‘Attitude Toward Science Scale’ have statistically significant differences in scale and item characteristics because of item wording.
