The quantitative relations of air-fuel ratio and coolant heat loss of the four cycles gasoline engine are examined with changes in the inlet temperature of the cooling water and the airfuel ratio, the experimental results of which are summarized as follows; 1) The brake horse power increases with the rise in the temperature of the cooling water. 2) The specific fuel consumption decreases with the outlet temperature rise of the cooling water. 3) The brake horse power shows the maxium value near the stoichiometry, where the specific fuel consumption reduces to the minium. 4) The coolant heat rejection in engine decrease with the outlet temperature rise of the cooling water and coolant heat loss decreases as the revolution of the engine decreases. But it shows the maximum value of the coolant heat loss near stoichiometry. 5) The brake thermal efficiency increases with the outlet temperature rise of the cooling water.

This analysis shows that exhaust gas performance for the change of inlet air humidity in spark ignition engine. The relationship between the flame velocity and inlet air humidity in real engine operation is studied experimentally by using the flame velocity measuring equipment, and combustion progressive process is obtained from flame progressive diagram. The flame velocity is linearly decrease by the increasing of inlet air humidity, and combustion delay is appeared. By this combustion delay, the effective air-fuel ratio and exhaust gas temperature should be dropped and physical properties of unburned mixture and burned gas are changed with variation of inlet air humidity. So, the concentration of NO, HC and CO are decreased by the increasing of inlet air humidity.

In this paper, combustion characteristics ignited by single-hole and multi-hole plasma jet igniter and conventional spark plug have been studied by means of schlieren photography and pressure measuring in the Wedge type, Pent-roof type and Toroidal bowl type constant volume vessel which is typical 4-valve SI engine combustion chamber. It is represented that combustion characteristics ignited by conventional spark plug ignition are hardly influenced by configurations of combustion chamber. I contrast in case of plasma jet ignition combustion duration and combustion enhancement rates are effected than spark plug ignition. Consequently, it is important to avoid plasma jet impingement against combustion chamber wall , and to let flame front move toward wide place in the combustion chamber at early stage of combustion.
