        화란도입 목초 및 사료무우의 수량 비교

        A comparative yield trial has been made on 9 cultivars of grasses, legumes and fodder radish introduced from the Netherlands, with 2 available cultivars N. F. G. perennial ryegrass and Kungjung Chongtae radish as controls at Suweon and Cheju for two years 1978-1979. During the growing season, none of the introduced cultivars significantly outyielded the control cultivar N. F. G. perennial ryegrass, although Barmultra Italian ryegrass and Barspectra westerwolds ryegrass produced 4.6% and 2% more dry matter at Suweon, Barvestra perennial ryegrass and all other cultivars significantly lower than the control. Barmultra Italian ryegrass and Barspectra westerwolds ryegrass produced 12.7% and 3.1% more dry matter than the control cultivar N. F. G. perennial ryegrass at Cheju, but the former was only significantly higher than the control cultivar. Data were also collected on the percentage distribution of yield of ryegrasses and on susceptibility to stem rust.

        수단그라스 , 수단그라스잡종 및 수수 - 수단그라스잡종의 사초생산성 4 . 사일리지용 우량잡종의 비교

        To select the best silage type forage, the yield performance, grain percentage, and agronomic characteristics of selected sorghum hybrids (sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) have been evaluated at Suweon and Kwangju areas. The hybrids used in this experiment were Silo Milo, T-E Silomaker, Pioneer 931, Pioneer 944, FS 251 and Suweon 19 hybrid corn. The experiment was arranged as a randomized complete block design with three replications and undertaken over a period of five months from May to September, 1980 and 1981. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. FS 251 and Suweon 19 hybrid corn headed and flowered early than other hybrids, however, Pioneer 931 and Pioneer 944 showed later. 2. Pioneer 931 was found to be a tall and large type hybrid, while FS 251 was a short type one. No diseases were found in all hybrids during the growing season, and only Pioneer 944 showed a little lodging. 3. Average grain percentage to the total forage yield of Suweon 19 hybrid corn was the highest (46.0%), and also those of Silo Milo, FS 251 and T-E Silomaker were high over 30%. However, grain percentage of Pioneer 931 was only 12.6%. There was negative correlation between plant height and grain percentage. 4. Pioneer 931 gave significantly higher forage yield than the control variety, Suweon 19 hybrid corn (p$lt;0.05), and there were no significant differences in forage yield between Silo Milo, T-E Silomaker, Pioneer 944 and Suweon 19 hybrid corn. Dry matter yield of FS 251 was the lowest (p$lt;0.05). 5. The results indicated that Pioneer 931 could be recommended as a silage type hybrid instead of silage corn. Silo-Milo, T-E Silomaker and Pioneer 944 can be grown in the areas where the silage corn is not suitable.

        외국산 도입호밀의 청예사료로서의 생산성 비교연구 2 . 최종평가시험

        Adaptability and agronomic characteristics of a worldwide collection of 800 entries of rye (Secal cereale L.) have been tested to screen out the most promising cultivars of forage rye for Korea during the 1977-80 season. In the test, productivity, winter-hardiness, earliness, plant height and disease reaction were investigated. Preliminary test was initiated on the forage field and interim and final tests were carried out ron the paddy field after harvesting rice plant at the College of Agriculture, Seoul National University. (1) At the final test in 1980, Athens Abruzzi rye gave the highest dry matter yield, followed by MI-72-73-224, 231, 257 and Vita-Graze ryes. I-22-144, Ward D.J. 51, Centeno 52 and Korean native ryes showed the lowest forage yield. (2) No diseases were found in all rye cultivars throughout the growing season. teal rye cultivars used were the best for winter-hardiness except I-22-142, 144, Ward D.J. 39, 44, 46, 48, 49, 51 and Centeno 52 ryes. (3) On the basis of the final evaluation scores, promising cultivars of forage rye for more advanced testing are V/7, V/23, V/24, V/25, Vita-Graze, Athens Abruzzi, MI-72-73-224, 231, 240 and 257 ryes. (4) Most of promising rye cultivars chosen at the final test were earlier in maturity with tall plant height.

        This experiment was carried out to find the effects of the different nitrogen rate and cutting height on the forage quality and dry matter yield of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench). The cultivar used in the present study was Pioneer 988. The experiment was arranged as a split plot design and undertaken over a period 5 months from May to September, 1981 and 1982. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. A nonsignificant relationship was revealed between nitrogen content in plant and either level of nitrogen fertilizer or stubble height except second harvest. Nitrogen yield, however, increased significantly as the level of nitrogen fertilizer increased (p$lt;0.05). 2. The NDF, ADF, cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin contents of forage were not affected by nitrogen fertilization and stubble height. 3. No significant difference between dry matter yield and cutting height was found. However, the yield tends to increase in the high stubble height and high nitrogen fertilization. It is recommended that 15 ㎏ nitrogen fertilizer per 10 a for the more yield of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid Pioneer 988 in this study.

        주요 화본료 목초의 종자생산을 위한 적정 채종시기 구명에 관한 연구

        In order to ascertain the optimum seed harvesting time for maximum seed yield of high quality, this experiment was carried out in relation to percentage of fertile florets, 1000 seed weight, germinability and seed shedding time of six gasses in 1979. The grasses involved in the present study were orchardgrass, tall fescue, smooth laromegass, Italian ryegrass, perennial ryegass and timothy. Each head was tagged at head emergence and anthesis, and seeds were sampled 15, 20, 25 and 30 days after peak anthesis, and according to head emerged date, that is, early, intermediate and late, respectively. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. Early emerged head was larger than late one and required more time during head emergence and anthesis than late emerged head. 2. Anthesis began at 06:00 hr in orchardgrass, 08:00 hr in Italian ryegrass, timothy and perennial ryegrass and at 10:00 hr in tall fescue, however, 15:00 hr in smooth bromegrass. Average period of anthesis was approximately 2-3 hrs a day. 3. Percentage of fertile florets of the most grasses was ranged from 40 to 60% except 70% in tall fescue and there were little differences in harvesting dates after peak anthesis, but average fertility of seeds from the early emerged head was higher than that of late head. 4. It is indicated that good quality seeds of grasses could be obtained 20 anti 25 days after peak anthesis. 1000 seed weight from early emerged head was heavier than that from late head. 5. Germination percentage at harvest was very low (0-20%) due to dormancy and after-ripeness of seeds except smooth bromegrass (80%), but germination percentage after two months` storage in the laboratory was increased considerably. Reasonable germination (90%) was attained 25 days after peak anthesis in orchardgrass, tall fescue and Italian ryegrass, and 20 days in smooth bromegrass and perennial ryegrass, however, 30 days were required in timothy. Seeds from early emerged head gave higher germinability than those from late head. 6. Seed shedding appeared 20-25 days after peak anthesis in orchardgrass, smooth bromegrass and Italian ryegrass, but tall fescue and perennial ryegrass showed a few days earlier than that of orchardgrass, and timothy did a few days later. 7. As the results of the experiment, optimum seed harvesting date seems to be 20-25 days after peak anthesis in smooth bromegrass and perennial ryegrass, and 25 days in orchardgrass, tall fescue and Italian ryegrass, but 30 days were recorded in timothy.

        질소시비수준과 예취높이가 청예용 수단그라스계 잡종의 신지의 발생과 건물량 및 수량에 미치는 영향

        Sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) is one of the most important annual grasses utilized for supplemental summer forage. For better forage production, this experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of the different nitrogen (N) rate and cutting height on the appearance, dry weight, death of new bud (branch and tiller), and dry matter yield of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid. The cultivar used in the present study was Pioneer 988. The experiment was arranged as a split plat design and undertaken over a period of 5 months from May to September, 1981 and 1982 in Suweon, Korea. The frequency of the branching was decreased as the low stubble height, and the rate of the tillering was decreased in the high stubble. And the low cutting height resulted in the increased number of dead bud. However, the appearance and death of branch and tiller were not influenced by high N. Tillering is more important than branching in influencing yield. The yield of forage mostly depended on the tiller, regardless of cutting height, especially at the low stubble height. And minor portion of the yield was resulted from the branch. No significant difference between dry matter yield and cutting height was found. However, the yield tends to increase in the high stubble height and high N fertilization. The regrowth and dry matter yield were influenced by climatic conditions significantly. These results suggests that the low stubble height of 5 ㎝ was recommended on sunny days with high temperature, while the high stubble of 15 ㎝ on rainy days or low temperature, and the 150 to 200 ㎏/㏊ N fertilizer for the maximum production of forage sorghumsudangrass hybrid.

        This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of the different nitrogen rate and cutting stage on the dead stubble, the carbohydrate reserves in stubble, and the dry matter yield of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench). The cultivar used in the present study was Pioneer 988. The experiment was arranged as a split plot design with three replications and undertaken in the Experimental Livestock Farm of Agriculture Coll., Seoul Nat`l Univ. in Suweon, 1982. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The dead stubble after the first cutting was found to be great with high rate of nitrogen fertilizer and early cutting stage. 2. Early cutting stage at the first harvest showed rapidly decreasing carbohydrate reserves in the stubble. 3. The total dry matter yield was significantly increased as the stage of maturity developed (p$lt;0.05). However, dry matter yield of forage was not influenced with the high nitrogen fertilization. 4. There were positive correlations between plant height and carbohydrate reserves in stubble and dry matter yield. However, there were negative correlations between plant height and dead stubble, and between dead stubble and dry matter yield. 5. In conclusion, this study suggested that the more yield of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Pioneer 988) could be obtained the early heading stage for the first cutting, and the three harvest per year in Korea.

        A world collection of 800 entries of cultivated rye (Secale cereale L.) was studied for agronomic characteristics and adaptability during the winter and spring seasons of 1978. This preliminary test indicated that twenty nine promising cultivars (strains) which might be of interest for further evaluation. The best and most promising cultivar was Vita-Graze. Korean native rye did not perform well. However, in order to provide more reliable information, this screening test should be continued for at least two more years. At present no conclusive information as to adaptability, performance and resistance to diseases can yet be given.
