This study was undertaken to investigate effects of Oyo-Tang on the respiratory system. The results of this study were summerized as follows; 1. Antihistamine and relaxed dialating actions were recognized on the extracted ileum and serial broncheal samples in guinea-pigs. 2. Mild hypertensive action was recognized on the carotid artery in rabbits. 3. Antitussive action was noted on mechanically irritated coughs in dogs and cats. In connection with the results of these studies, effects based on the Oriental medical references were consistant with the actual experimental results. It was considered that effective application of Oyo-Tang for the treatment of cough and asthma could be justified.

전보에 제시한 바와 같이 오요탕에 대한 연구의 일관으로 생쥐와 모르모트 적출회장관, 호흡 및 혈압, 진해와 거담에 대한 영향에 대하여 실험한 결과 몇가지 지견을 얻었다. (1) 생쥐의 적출회장관에 대하여 이완작용을 나타내었고, BaCl₂수축에 갑한 길항작용을 나타내었다. (2) 모르모트 적출회장관 및 기관연쇄표본에 항 histamine작용과 기관지근이 완성확장작용이 인정되었다. (3) 가로경동맥혈압에서 경미한 혈압상승작용이 있으며, 호흡에는 별다른 영향을 주지 못하였다. (4) 고양이 및 개의 기관자극에 의한 해소에 대하여 진해작용이 인정되었다.

In order to investigate the pharmacological action of combined preparation of crude drugs, Oyo-Tang were studied. Oyo-Tang consist of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Ephedrae Herba, Armenicae Semen, Platycodi Radix and Nepetae Herba. They have widely been prescribed in Oriental Medicine for controlling of cough, asthma, nasal obstraction, pharygeal pain and hoarseness. Experimental studies were implemented on analgesic, sedative, anticonvulsive and ileum relaxing actions. The results of the studies were as follows; Significant anticonvulsive action was recognized by fraction IIII. Sedative and analgesic actions were noted by fraction I and III. Relaxing action was shown on the extracted ileum in mice, antagonistic actions were seen on BaCl₂^- induced contraction of the ileum of mice and Histamine-induced contraction of the ileum of guinea-pigs that the relaxing effect of the intestinal smooth muscle was recognized.

저자등은 한방고서 및 임상에 널리 응용되어지고 있는 생약복합제제의 효능을 중심으로 하여 약리학적 측면에서 실험적으로 구명하는 연구의 일환으로 오요탕을 선정하여 본 실험에 착수하였다. 오요탕은 단계심법, 동의보감등에 수록되어 있으며, 본방은 마황(Ephedrae Herba), 행인(Armeniacae Semen), 감초(Glycyrrhizae Radix), 길경(Playcodi Radix), 형계(Nepetae Herba)로 구성되어 있고, 발산퐁한, 사폐갑기하는 효능이 있어 풍한해소, 폐기천급, 비색성중, 인릉, 실음등을 치한다고 문헌에 기록되어 임상에 널리 응용되고 있다. 우선 오요탕이 중추신경계에 대한 작용을 구명하고, 생약복합제제에 있어서 다종의 성분에 의한 다양한 활성에 대하여 방향성을 추구하고자 본방의 물추출물을 기본으로 하고, 메탄올을 분획추출하여 메탈을 가용부와 메탄을 불용부에 대하여 각종 실험동물을 써서 실험 결과 약간의 지견을 얻었기에 보고하는 바이다.

In order to investigate pharmacological actions of combined preparations of crude drugs, Jakyakgancho-Tang were studied. The Jakyakgamcho-Tang using abdominal pain and convulsion of pediatric diseases are composed of Glycyrrhizae Radix and Paeoniae Radix alba. This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of Jakyakgamcho-Tang (S-I) and parched Jakygamchho-Tang (S-II) on anticonvulsive, analgesic, antipyretic and sedative actions. The results of this study were summerized as follows; Both Jakyakgamcho-Tang and parched Jakyakgamcho-Tang showed anticonvulsive effects against convulsions induced by strychnine, picrotoxine and caffeine. Jakyakgamcho-Tang and parched Jakyakgamcho-Tang also showed analgesic and antipyretic effects. Parched Jakyakgamcho-Tang only prolonged the duration of hypnosis induced by sodium pentobarbital.

This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of Jakyakgamcho-Tang and parched Jakyakgamcho-Tang on anti-inflammatory and antiulcerative actions, and motility of isolated intestine of mice. The results of this study were summerized as follows; Anti-inflammatory effect was showed markedly by the administration of water extract of Jakyakgamcho-Tang and parched Jakyakgamcho-Tang. Isolated intestine of mice was relaxed with the treatment of Jakyakgamcho-Tang and parched Jakyakgamcho-Tang and intestinal contraction induced by BaCl₂ and acetylcholine was also inhibited. The water extract of Jakyakgamcho-Tang and parched Jakyakgamcho-Tang were significantly inhibited Shay`s ulceration in rats.

In order to investigate the pharmacological action of combined preparation of crude drugs, Whangryonhaedok-Tang were studied. Pharmacological studies of the water extract, methanol insoluble fraction and methanol soluble fraction obtained from Whangryonhaedok-Tang were conducted. The results of this investigation were summarized as follows; Central convulsions induced by strychnine, picrotoxine and caffeine were depressed in mice. Analgesic effect was observed in mice and rats. Antipyretic effect was observed in rats and rabbits. Sedative effect was observed.

In order to investigate the effect of Whangryonhaedok-Tang on the anti-inflammatory, ileum of mice, blood pressure, blood glucose, total cholesterol and antibacterial activity, those pharmacological actions were conducted. The results of this studies were summerized as follows; Rat hind paw edema induced by acetic acid was inhibited. In mice, tone of intestinal smooth muscle was suppressed with the treatment of sample and intestinal contractions induced by BaCl₂ was inhibited. Hypertensive effect was not observed in rabbits but was observed by the water extract of Whangryonhaedok-Tang excluded Phellodendri Cortex in rabbits. The incleased blood glucose levels in alloxandiabetic rabbits were significantly decreased by the oral administration of the sample I after 6 days. The total cholesterol levels in alloxan-induced rabbits were significantly decreased by the oral administration of the sample I after 9 days. Antibacterial activity was observed. In addition, we thought the pharmacological actions were significantly noted by the sample III(Methanol soluble fraction) because of the purification of effective components.
생약복합제제의 약효연구 (제14보) : 반하백출천마탕이 진통 및 진정작용에 미치는 영향

Experimental studies were made to evaluate clinical efficacy and validate Oriental medicine description of Banhabaikchulchenma-Tang which has been used for controlling of headache, heartburn and giddiness, etc. The results of these studies were as follows: 1) Suppressive actions were not shown on convulsion due to spine and diencephatic 2) Analgesic action was recognized in mice and rats. 3) Sedative actions due to prolongation of hypnosis time, muscle relaxation and decreasing locomotvie function were noted. 4) Relaxing action was noted in the ileum of mice, also antagonistic antispasmodic action was recognized on contraction of the ileum induced by acteylcholine and BaCl₂. In connection with results of these studies, efficacy based on the Oriental medical reference were consistant with actual experimental results. It is considered that Banhabaikchulchenma-Tang has the therapeutic effect on the headache and giddiness, etc.
