김강호,박춘호,구광련 朝鮮大學校 附設 醫學硏究所 1989 The Medical Journal of Chosun University Vol.14 No.1

This study was undertaken to clarify the serum total protein, albumin and globulin to investigate the normal concentration and their relationship between the newborn infants and mothers at term. Serum total protein, albumin and globulin levels were measured in 30 newborn infants and their mothers by the Biuret method and serum proteins was fractioned by electrophoresis using the cellulose acetate membrane. The following results were obtained; 1) The mean serum total protein levels of cord blood in the newborn infants and maternal blood were 6.17±0.85gm/㎗ and 6.62±0.66gm/㎗, respectively. The differences of serum total protein level between newborn infants and their mothers were statically significant (P<0.05). The correlation of serum total protein levels between newborn infants and their mothers was not significant (r=0.24). 2) The mean serum albumin levels of cord blood in the newborn infants and maternal blood were 3.5±0.38gm/㎗ and 3.55±0.32gm/㎗, respectively. The differences of serum albumin level between newborn infants and their mothers were statistically not significant (P>0.5). The correlation of serum albumin levels between newborn infants and their mothers was not significant (r=0.06). 3) The mean serum globulin levels of cord blood in the newborn infants and maternal blood were 2.66±0.64gm/㎗ and 3.07±0.46gm/㎗, respectively. The differences of serum globulin level between newborn infants and their mothers were statistically significant (P<0.01). The correlation of serum globulin levels between newborn infants and their mothers was not significant (r=0.26>). 4) The mean percentage compositions of serum protein in the newborn infants were albumin 56.1±3.7%, alpha-I globulin 4.6±0.8%, alpha-2 globulin 7.5±1.1%, beta globulin 10.5±2.5% and gamma globulin 21.2±2.3% and the mean percentage compositions of serum protein in mothers were albumin 47.2±2.5%, alpha-l globtilin 7.0±1.0%, alpha-2 globulin 10.9±1.7%, beta globulin 16.2±2.0%, and gamma globulin 18.4±1.9%, 5) The serum albumin and gamma globulin fractions of the newborn infants were significantly higher than those of mothers (P<0.001), however the serum alpha-1, alpha-2 and beta globulin fractions of the newborn infants were significantly lower than those of mothers (P<0.001).
