전통문화 적용 캐릭터 디자인 분석 연구 -중국 신국풍 캐릭터를 중심으로-

오늘날 캐릭터 디자인은 젊은이들이 문화를 받아들이는 매개체로써 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 이러한 매개체 역할을 하는 중국 전통문화 요소가 활용된 디자인인 신국풍(新国风) 디자인이 주류를 형성하고 있다. 특히, 최근 인기가 있는 ‘나타(哪吒)’ 등 신국풍 캐릭터 디자인이 중국 청년층의 관심을 끌고 있다. 이에 신국풍 문화를 향유하는 중국 Z세대를 이해하고, 이들의 소비 트렌드 분석을 통하여 신국풍 디자인 특징을 분석하고자 하였다. 특히 신국풍 캐릭터 디자인에 주목하여 외재적인 조형 요소와 내재적인 교육요소로 분석을 진행하고자 하였다. 이를 바탕으로 신국풍 캐릭터 중 인기 있는 캐릭터 6종을 선정하여 캐릭터 디자인 분석을 진행하여 공통적인 특징을 도출하였다. 신국풍 캐릭터 디자인 외적인 조형 요소의 색채, 형태와 재질은 모두 전통문화 역사와 현대 트렌드 심미를 결합하였으며, 동시에 캐릭터 디자인이 지닌 성격과 가치관을 통하여 전통문화의 가치를 전달한다. 중국에서 전통문화의 가치를 재창조할 수 있는 창의적인 캐릭터 발굴이 요구되고 있는 이 시점에 본 연구가 성공적인 전통문화 활용 캐릭터 창출의 기초 자료가 될 것으로 기대한다. Nowadays, character design plays an important role as a medium for young people to accept traditional culture. The new ethnic style design, a kind of design using Chinese traditional cultural elements as the medium, is forming the mainstream. Especially, new ethnic character designs like ““Natta”, which is popular recently, has attracted the attention of Chinese young people. herefore, the Chinese Z generation enjoyed the culture of the new ethnic style and analyzed the characteristics of the new ethnic style design through the analysis of consumption trends. In particular, attention was paid to the design of new ethnic characters to derive external and intrinsic elements. Based on the derived character design elements, six popular characters are selected from the new national style characters, and character design is analyzed, and their commonness is analyzed. The color, shape and material of the external modeling elements of new ethnic style character design all reflect the combination of traditional cultural history and modern trend aesthetics, and at the same time convey the value of traditional culture through the inherent character and positive values of character design. When China also asks to explore creative characters that can re-create traditional cultural values, this research is expected to be the basic data for successfully creating much more domestic characters.
