사회적 지지가 고령층의 디지털정보활용에 미치는 영향: 디지털 이용동기의 매개효과를 중심으로

본 연구는 고령층의 디지털정보활용을 제고할 수 있는 변수로 사회적 지지의 영향력을 확인하고, 그 과정에서 디지털 이용동기의 매개효과를 실증적으로 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석에는 한국정보화진흥원의 2018년 「디지털정보격차 실태조사」의 60세 이상 인터넷 이용자 1,093명의 응답자료를 활용하였다. 매개 회귀분석 결과, 고령층이 인식하는 사회적 지지는 디지털정보활용에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 디지털 이용동기가 사회적 지지와 디지털정보활용 간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 정부와 지자체에서 고령층의 디지털정보활용을 활성화하기 위해 고령자 혹은 젊은 세대를 통해 사회적 지지원(support sources)을 확대하는 한편, 고령층의 세부 집단별 디지털 이용동기에 기반하여 정보격차해소 정책을 수립하여야 함을 시사한다. The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of social support that can improve the digital usage among the elderly, and to examine the mediating effect of digital motivation. The data of 1,093 Internet users over 60 years old of the 2018 Digital Divide Survey by NIA was used. As a result of the mediation regression analysis, the social support perceived by the elderly has a positive effect on the digital usage, and the digital motivation mediates the relationship between social support and digital usage. These results suggest that the social support sources need to be expanded by utilizing the elderly or youth by the central and local governments and that the digital divide policy should be established based on the digital motivation for each subgroup of the elderly.
