        유우의 생산성 향상을 위한 진단과 대책에 관한 연구

        This survey was carried out to investigate the present situation of feeding management and economical analysis of dairy farms in Gyeong Nam province from June 25, 1985 to May 31, 1986. The survey was divided into three herd size according to the number of dairy cattle such as small (10 to 30 head farm), medium (30 to 70 head per farm) and large size (over 70 head per farm). Number of dairy farms surveyed was 20, 20 and 10 in the small, medium and large herd size, respectively. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Age of farm owner was largely between 40 and 50 years old (about 50%) and the ages were not affected by the herd size. Academic career of farm owner was related to the herd size: large herd size was largely owned by university/college graduates (80%) and small-medium herd size by high school graduates (50%). 2. Small farms were managed by farm owners while over 80% of medium and large farms were managed by the employed managers. 3. Areas for forage crop field/pasture per head increased with increasing herd size: 4.9 a in small, 11.8 a in medium and 20.1 a in large. About 45 to 64% of small and medium herd size have silo but silo were very limitedly utilized. All of large herd size silo but 70% of silo were actually utilized. Farm facilities such as calving pen and waste disposer were not available to small and medium herd size. Only a half of large of herd size were utilized with those facilities. 4. Dairy farms were not utilized artificial insemination only. Largely a half of large farms utilized both artificial insemination and natural coitus. 5. Administration of magnet was neglected by small herd size but it was practised by medium (40%) and large (60%) herd size. 6. Dairly concentrates intake of milking cows was 8.6Kg in small and large herd size, and 9.6Kg in medium herd size. 7. Daily milk yield per herd was 14.6Kg in small, 16.4Kg in medium and 15.7Kg in large herd size. 8. The intake of nutrients of dairy cattle such as crude protein, calcium and phosphorus was higher than that of NRC requirements. 9. Feed cost by herd size took 55%, 56%, and 54% of milk price, respectively. The cost of concentrates composed about 67% of the total feed costs.
