The growth on consideration of energy savings and motor efficiency has caused the LSPM(Line Start Permanent Magnet Motor) to be focused as a substitute for conventional induction motors. A Line start permanent magnet motor able to be driven at synchronous speed is designed based on a single phase induction motor in this paper. The single phase LSPM is identical to the induction motor except a permanent magnet is installed in the rotor. As the permanent magnet influences the characteristics of both transient state and steady state, a design considering both starting and synchronization conditions was used. In this paper, by adopting DOE, a single phase motor has been designed showing high power and smooth start. Also, optimal model is selected by weighting function. And the characteristics demagnetization are analyzed according to the variation of magnet shape. Finally, to verify the design results, a prototype was measured.

다 자유도 모터는 회전자가 일반 회전기와 같이 회전운동을 하는 특성과 회전자의 축이 수평면을 기준으로 기울어지는 운동을 하는 특수한 모터이다. 이 모터의 연구는 회전운동과 기울임운동이 가능하도록 특수한 구조와 새로운 구동 방식을 개발하기 위하여 여러 타입으로 여러 나라에서 다년간 연구가 되어왔다. 특히 국내에서는 영구자석을 사용하는 영구자석형 다 자유도 모터의 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서 소개가 되는 다 자유도 모터의 타입은 표면부착형 영구자석 전동기로 회전자의 기울임 위치에 따라 구동 특성이 바뀌게 되어 3차원의 특성 해석은 필수적이며 이러한 해석을 통한 다자유도 모터의 특성 개선의 주요한 연구 성과에 대해 언급하였다.

The purpose of This paper is the optimal design of a single-phase LSPM(Line-Start Permanent magnet Motor). A single-phase LSPM has a permanent magnet in the rotor that is same as induction motor. For that reason, the transient characteristics are very different from an induction motor. Therefore, we need the PM design to consider a transient and steady-state characteristics. In this paper, we designed a single-phase LSPM that has a high power and a good starting characteristics, and analyzed the performance of designed LSPM by varying each parameters. Finally, we examined and compared the simulation results and the prototype motor's characteristics.

This paper is concerned with the problems of accurate losses segregation in capacitor-run single phase motor. Segregation of losses in single phase induction motor is more complicated than that in three phase induction motor, because of the backward magnetic field component in the motor. Generally there are two methods for losses segregation of single phase induction motor. The one is relatively complicated method based on parameter estimation of single phase induction motor. By the way, the other one is simplified method based on IEEE Standard 114. All of the methods for the experimental determination of single phase induction motor losses are studied in this paper. Since the IEEE Standard is not possible to be applied for all type of single phase induction motors, we modified that method to apply for losses segregation of capacitor-run single phase induction motor as unifying the method based on parameter estimation.
