병어, Pampus punctatissimus와 덕대, Pampus argenteus의 외부 계측형질 특성

The external morphometric characteristics of silver pomfret, Pampus punctatissimus and Korean pomfret, P. argenteus of Stomateidae in Korea were investigated through direct distance. The 16 measurements were expressed as a ratio to the total length, resulting in 8 measurements of P. punctatissimus were found to be larger than those of the P. argenteus (p<0.05). The factors by components in the morphometric characteristics were extracted into three sub-factors, among which factor 1 was length component of species division, factor 2 was length component of body shape, and factor 3 was length component of pectoral section. As for the correlation between the length factor between P. punctatissimus and P. argenteus, DFL-DH showed the highest positive correlation by 0.923. The most remarkably distinguishable factor for the morphometric trait of Stomateidae was the length in dorsal and anal fin shapes, DH and AH, which were longer in the P. punctatissimus than in P. argenteus.

This study investigated the characteristics of natural spawning and egg quality from indoor-cultured broodstock yellow drum. The size of cultured broodstock was 37.6±3.3 cm in total length and 698.7±214.7 g in body weights, and the relationship between body weight (BW) and total length (TL) was expressed as BW=0.0014TL<SUP>3.6075</SUP> (r²=0.9637). The condition factor (CF) showed the highest value in May (20.3±3.7), then it decreased gradually since May and showed the lowest value in October (15.2±2.2), CF gradually decreased after the spawning period. Natural spawning of cultured broodstock (3 years old) was observed four times from July 9 to 17. It occurred when the water temperature increased and day length decreased, and the egg diameter became smaller as spawning is progressed. The floating rate, egg diameter and oil droplet diameter, hatching rates were 96.86±3.62%, 778±41 ㎛, 255±23 ㎛ and 67.50±24.51%, respectively. The length of newly hatched larvae was 1.62±0.25 mm.

The reproductive cycle, egg diameter compositions, spawning season and first sexual maturity of the pomfret, Pampus echinogaster, were investigated by histological analyses and morphometric data. The reproductive cycle of this species can be divided into six successive stages in females: early developing stage (February to March), late developing stage (March to April), mature stage (April to June), ripe and spawning stage (June to early August), recovery and resting stage (August to October), and immature stage (October to February). Males can be divided into five successive stages: developing stage (February to April), mature stage (March to June), ripe and spent stage (June to August), recovery and resting stage (August to October), and immature stage (October to February). According to the frequency distributions of egg diameters in a spawning season, P. echinogaster is a polycyclic species that spawns two times or more during the spawning period. The percentages of P. echinogaster that had reached first sexual maturity over 50% in males from 12.1 to 15.0 cm in body lengths, while in females, those from 15.1 to 18.0 cm in body lengths reached over 50%. And both sexes were 100% for fishes over 21.1 cm in body length.
