Since a long time ago, many railway engineers analyze and discuss the interface between the sub-system of railway, such as a wheel/rail interface, pantograph/catenary interface etc. The verifying of the system interface could help to achive the optimized performance and safety of the railway system considering that the railway system is constructed by various engineerings, such as civil, mechanical, electrical, etc. A rolling stock with distributed drive system, which will be developed by HEMU-400x project, is capable of running on high speed line and conventional line in Korea. To verify the performance of rolling stock, test run will be done with revenue service line. And the test items of the system interface have to be selected to verify a functional compatibility and physical force between rolling stock and infrastructure. In this paper, the authors will indicates the test items to verify system interface. To achive the conclusion, the authors analyze a specification of the development train and the design value of Seoul-Busan high speed line, which will be used for testing of the development train, and also, study the various case of high speed train commissioning.

Since the "Low Carbon, Green Growth" as a social requirements is attracted public attention, the policies and investments of the railway which have been less estimated than road is re-considered. Since the starting the commercial service (2004. April), the KTX have been operated successfully while transport passengers over 100million for years. And also the project for development of KHST(Korea High Speed Train ; G7) had been accomplished with a good result, the first trainset of KTX-Ⅱ which base on G7 project was manufactured and testing now. On the other hand, the world's technology of the high speed train is more faster, and changing to a distributed traction system. To catch up the world's leading technology, the HEMU(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit) project will secure new technology and aims to promote the technology of domestic high-speed train. The authors indicates the result of detail review such as a curve, slope of the track and electrical dead section of the catenary to test at 400kph and also the performance simulation of the developed rolling stock in this paper. As the result, the authors devise the test scenario to perform a maximum speed test (stability at max. speed, acceleration & deceleration etc) with the restricted conditions such as track length, track available time etc by considering above result.

The HEMU-400X(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit) project, which was started in 2007, have achieved a goal of first stage successefully, and then entered into second stage to finalize a design and manufacture the real train. It is very important to verify the performance of the developed train because of the first high speed electric multiple unit train in korea. And also it is important to verify how the developed train has a performance with existing facilities. The each sub-system of a railway, such as rail, rolling stock, catenary, etc, have to harmonize with each other to secure a optimized performance and safety. In this paper, the authors indicates a methodology to verify a safety of the railway facilities and developed train effectively by reviewing a requirements of the systems engineering to secure railway safety, the case study of KTX for the full system commissioning and the test items required by the law.
