그림(Grimm) 동화 「백설 공주」에 묘사된 색채의 상징적 의미를 일러스트로 표현한 패션 디자인 연구 -걸그룹 앨범 재킷 의상을 중심으로-

본 연구는 그림(Grimm) 동화 「백설 공주」에 묘사된 색채의 상징적 의미를 스토리텔링의 모티브로 삼아, 걸그룹 앨범 재킷을 위한 패션에 접목하여 디자인 연구를 하였다. 아이돌은 전 세계의 전 세대가 공감하는 보편적인 대중성을 지니고 있어, 그림 동화의 특징과 상통한다. 의상 디자인을 통한 그림 동화 「백설 공주」의 스토리와 아이돌 걸그룹의 결합이 서로 시너지 효과를 일으켜 우리나라 패션ㆍ문화 산업에 고부가가치를 창출할 수 있도록 하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 이를 바탕으로 그림 동화에 묘사된 색채의 상징적 의미를 모티브로 한 패션 디자인을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 19세기 초 그림 형제에 의해 수집된 옛이야기인 그림 동화는 무한한 스토리텔링과 디자인이 가능한 소재임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 「백설 공주」에 묘사된 흰색, 붉은색, 검은색의 세 가지 색이 단순한 외적 묘사가 아닌 근원적 철학의 상징임을 통해, 스토리텔링 전개가 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 그림 동화를 아이돌 그룹의 앨범 재킷 콘셉트에 스토리텔 링으로 활용할 경우, 보편성과 환상성이라는 특징이 서로 상통하여 높은 시너지 효과를 기대할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 문화를 선도하는 걸그룹을 통한 스토리텔링은 문화ㆍ산업적 영향력이 크기 때문에, 그림 동화와 걸그룹의 이미지가 일으키는 시너지 효과가 우리나라 패션ㆍ문화 산업에 고부가가치를 창출할 수 있다는 가능성을 알 수 있었다. This study takes the symbolic meaning of the colors portrayed in Grimms` Snow White and applies it to fashion on the album cover of Korean pop girl bands. Korean pop bands have gained popularity worldwide and relate well with the characteristics of Grimms` fairy tales. The purpose of this study is to combine Grimms` fairytales with album covers for Korean pop stars to create maximum synergy, which can create high added value in Korea`s fashion and culture industries. Fashion design that embodies the symbolic meaning of colors shown in Grimms` fairytales has been suggested. 1. Fairytales by the Grimm`s brothers that have been relayed by mouth since the early nineteenth century are a good inspiration for fashion design since it represents and symbolizes human nature. 2. The German fairy tale “Snow White,” illustrates its story by using the three primary colors, white, red and black. These colors are demonstrated both as psychological and symbolic indications of human nature as well as of visual aesthetics. 3. The symbolism of Grimm`s fairytale, “Snow White,” as a main concept of the fashion industry and costume design for female K-POP groups, can be a prominent factor for the public audience to interact with the media. 4. The interpretation of the symbolism of a fairytale through multimedia such as K-POP music and pop singers will produce profits for the cultural industry of South Korea.

The study aims to suggest new skirt designs through a modernistic application of the silhouette of Hanbok skirts. It also aims to promote the aesthetic beauty and excellence of Hanbok to the world by using Hanbok skirts that best express the beauty of Korea as motifs, and to promote a pride in Korean culture through a reinterpretation of Hanbok skirts. The study was focused on examining Hanbok skirts from the Three Kingdoms era to the Joseon Dynasty, and the skirts in each era were compared to western silhouettes to suggest design centering on the characteristics of each silhouette. As for the theoretical background, shapes were classified according to waist-grip, the width and length of a skirt, wrinkles and ornamental lines, before being compared to skirt silhouettes of western costume. As a result, it was found that Hanbok skirt silhouettes in the Three Kingdoms era were similar to the A-Line silhouette of western costume, the Empire silhouette of unified Silla, the H-Line silhouette of the Goryeo Dynasty, the Bell-Line silhouette of the Joseon Dynasty and the Bustle Style applied to ceremonial costume in the early Joseon Dynasty. The researcher suggested five skirt designs by applying the above-mentioned five silhouettes, confirming the research premise that Hanbok skirt silhouettes are as diversified as those found in western costume. Designs were suggested for each silhouette, and are expected to lead to the development of designs befitting future trends and concepts through detailed research and development on Hanbok skirt silhouettes.
