Qieyunzhinan is an important book of Chinese phonology after Yunjing. TongzhiㆍQiyinlue and Sishengdengzi being published. It distributed Entering-tone rhymes of 'Shan, Zhen, Dang, Jiang, Tong', five groups, to Yin rhymes: and distributed 'Zhen, Dang, Tong'to two Yinrhymesrespectively. It significantly showed the trend that Entering-tone rhymes were separated from Yang rhymes and incorporated into Yin rhymes gradually. According to the actual speech of that time, Mr. Liu. the author, distributed the Entering-tonerhymes anew, so it provides a lot of valuable information on the evolution of Entering-tone rhymes. It is a very important change of the history of Chinese phonology that the Entering-tonerhymes were distributed from Yang rhymes to Yin rhymes, especially the transitional stage that the Entering-tone rhymes were distributed to Yin rhymes and Yangrhymes at the same time. Studying on it is good to investigate the evolution of Entering-tone rhymes correctly and to provide valuable materials about the history of modern Chinese phonetics as well.
