Madhuca indica has been used ethnomedically in Indian folks. In the present study we have investigated anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer and hypoglycaemic effect of ethanolic extract (EE) and crude alkaloid extract of Madhuca indica seed cake on albino rats. The study showed that the EE had a significant, dose dependent anti-edematogenic, anti-ulcerogenic and hypoglycaemic activity, whereas the crude alkaloid extract exhibited a significant anti-inflammatory activity only. Both the extracts possess dose dependent inhibitory activity on carrageenan-induced edema, inhibiting prostaglandins or mediators involved in prostaglandin synthesis, the second phase of inflammation. The EE was significantly effective in protecting pylorus-ligation-induced gastric ulcers at a higher dose level. The active principle of EE seems to be a selective inhibitor of the COX II (prostaglandin synthesis) without important effect on COX I since, EE exhibited both anti-edematogenic and anti-ulcerogenic effect. The EE was effective in reducing the plasma glucose level in normal albino rats in a dose dependent manner, producing hypoglycaemic effect by stimulating the release of insulin from the β-cells and/or increasing the uptake of glucose from the plasma.

To meet the local requirement i.e. the tropical stress of Andhra Pradesh and marginal farmers, twenty four new hybrid combinations were tested in Line x Tester method involving eight newly developed polyvoltine oval lines viz., MSO1, MSO2, MSO3, MSO4, MSO5, MSO6, MSO7 and MSO8 and three bivoltine silkworm breeds viz., APS12, APS45 and APS8 as testers. These hybrids were reared to evaluate their performance. Data for eight economically important metric traits viz., fecundity, cocoon yield per 10,000 larvae by number, cocoon yield per 10,000 larvae by weight, survival rate, cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio and filament length was recorded. General combining ability (gca), specific combining ability (sca) and heterosis were analyzed. Further, the relative merit of the hybrids for all the traits under study was also assessed adopting Evaluation Index method. Based on combining ability effects, heterosis and evaluation index, five hybrid combinations viz., MSO3 $\times$ APS45, MSO1 $\times$ APS12, MSO7 $\times$ APS8, MSO2 $\times$ APS45 and MSO1 $\times$ APS45 were selected for further evaluation in different seasons.

The performance of five newly evolved cross breeds were evaluated across seasons to understand the genotype and environment interactions and their stability under fluctuating tropical environmental conditions along with control hybrids $PM{\times}CSR2$ and $APM1{\times}APS8$. The data was collected on eight economic traits namely fecundity, yield per 10,000 larvae by number, yield per 10,000 larvae by weight, survival rate, cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio and filament length. The data was subjected for Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and relevant statistical methods. The performance data obtained was further subjected for multiple trait evaluation index method. The ranks were adjudicated based on the index values. The two hybrids viz., $MSO3{\times}APS45$ and $MSO1{\times}APS12$ performed well under diversified environmental conditions indicating their overall stability and superiority. These hybrids revealed highly significant (p < 0.01) improvement for the majority of the traits over the control hybrids.

N. Seshagiri Rao,K.V.L.N.Acharyulu,K. Kalyani 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Bio-Science and Bio-Techn Vol.7 No.1
The present paper deals with the numerical study on the ecological model which comprises the commensal and the host with limited resources. The trajectories of this model with multiple constraints are illustrated. The wide range values are considered for the parameters in this model. The dominance reversal time of the host species over the commensal species and vice versa are traced. The interactions between the species are identified.

Purpose: The study aims to address the gap in understanding the relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and vestibular dysfunction, particularly focusing on how T2DM may affect the tuning of the vestibular system. Specifically, the investigation aims to explore the impact of stimulus parameters, particularly stimulus frequency, on ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (oVEMP) in individuals with T2DM. Methods: A case-control study design was used, utilizing non-probability sampling. All participants underwent routine audiological and vestibular evaluations before inclusion in the study. oVEMP’s were compared across 40 healthy individuals (group A) and 40 individuals with T2DM (group B) at 500 Hz, 1 KHz, and 2 KHz. Results: In group A, all 80 participants exhibited oVEMP responses across all frequencies in both ears, while in group B, consisting of individuals with T2DM, response rates were slightly lower, ranging from 70% to 77.5% across frequencies. Statistical analysis revealed significant amplitude differences at all frequencies tested in type 2 diabetic ears compared to healthy ears, although amplitude remained consistent within type 2 diabetic ears. Latencies (first negative [N1] and first positive [P1]) were consistent across groups, with delays observed in P1 latency, particularly noticeable at higher frequencies, both in healthy and type 2 diabetic ears. Gender didn't affect oVEMP frequency dynamics in any of the groups. Conclusion: Diabetes may create an impact in the functioning of otolith organs, the vestibular branch of eighth cranial nerve, and their innervations. VEMP evaluates both the sacculo-collic and utriculo-ocular pathways to detect changes in the functions of vestibular organs. Therefore, it's crucial to consider diabetes when conducting vestibular diagnosis or treatment.

Boil-off loss ratio is one of the most important economic traits to be considered during the course of silkworm breeding. The boil-off loss ratio varies among the breeds and seasons. The present study was undertaken with 5 oval and 5 peanut breeds and twenty five hybrids involving these parents to select the promising hybrids with desired boil-off loss ratio. Accordingly, studies were undertaken to estimate the heterosis and heterobeltiosis. It was observed that majority of the hybrids revealed negative heterosis for boil-off loss ratio which is desirable. Based on the heterosis and heterobeltiosis, among all the hybrids, the hybrid APBRO5 ${\times}$ APBRD5 exhibited highest negative heterosis for boil-off loss ratio and also exhibited highest EI value (64.5) for the quantitative and qualitative traits. Based on the hybrids performance, boil-off loss ratio, heterosis and heterobeltiosis and evaluation index, the hybrids viz. APBRO5 ${\times}$ APBRD5, APBRO1 ${\times}$ APBRD1 and APBRO3 ${\times}$ APBRD4 were identified for commercial exploitation.

Modified Smith predictor based parallel cascade control strategy is proposed for enhanced control of non-self regulating processes involving time delays. Modified Smith predictor is integrated in the primary loop of the parallel cascade control structure to enhance the closed loop performance. The proposed structures consist of two control loops, a secondary inner loop and a primary outer loop. The secondary loop controller is designed using the internal model control (IMC) method. Then, the primary loop controllers are designed after identifying the overall primary process model. The primary loop has two controllers meant for set point tracking and good disturbance rejection and designed using direct synthesis method. The primary set point tracking controller is designed as a PID with lag filter and the primary disturbance rejection controller is designed as a PID with lead-lag filter. For comparison, a simple parallel cascade control is also applied to non-self regulating time delay processes. Simulation studies have been carried out on various unstable and integrating processes. The proposed method provides enhanced closed loop performances compared to that of simple parallel cascade control.
