        Comparative Analysis of Gut Microbial Communities in Children under 5 Years Old with Diarrhea

        Diarrhea is a global disease with a high morbidity and mortality rate in children. In this study, 25 fecal samples were collected from children under 5 years old. Seven samples had been taken from healthy children without diarrhea and marked as the healthy control group; eight samples had been sampled from children with diarrhea caused by dyspepsia and defined as the non-infectious group; and ten samples had been taken from children with diarrhea induced by intestinal infections and identified as the infectious group. We detected the microbial communities of samples by using high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA genes. The proportion of aerobic and facultative anaerobic microbes in samples of the infectious group was much higher than in the non-infectious group. In addition, the relative abundance of Enterococcus in the healthy control group was significantly higher than in the non-infectious group and infectious group. This can be used as a potential diagnostic biomarker for diarrhea.

        Dynamic Event-triggered Quantitative Feedback Control for Switched Affine Systems

        This paper focuses on the design of a dynamic output feedback controller for switched affine systems under limited communication resources. Since the system states information is difficult to obtain, the dynamic output feedback switching function is considered to stabilize the switched affine system. Quantized output measurements are transmitted to the dynamic output feedback controller to reduce the communication load. In order to significantly reduce the sampling frequency, an event-triggering mechanism is introduced to detect the event periodically. By using Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique, a set of dynamic output feedback gains together with a switching rule are designed assuring the global asymptotic stability of the desired equilibrium point. More specifically, the design conditions do not require that there exist a stable convex combination of the subsystems state-space matrix. Finally, a numerical example show the validity of the obtained results of this paper.

        Performance of a Composite Soil Prepared with Red Mud and Desulfurized Gypsum

        Given the great environmental pressure brought by the massive stacking of solid waste, red mud and desulfurized gypsum were used to prepare cementitious materials. In this paper, three different material ratios with a 60% content at different curing ages (7 d, 14 d, and 28 d) were utilized to prepare the composite soil. To explore the performance of the composite soil, the resistivity, strain-stress, unconfined compressive strength, and pH of the composite soil were tested and analyzed, as well as the microscopic properties. The results show that the addition of solid waste can enhance the strength, while the optimal ratio of desulfurized gypsum to red mud is 2:2. The enforcement of strength comes from the hydration products. The main products of composite soil are hydrated calcium silicate gel or hydrated calcium aluminate gel and ettringite. In addition, the composite soils behave like a brittle material with peak stress and softening performance. In addition, the current frequency presents an obvious effect on the resistivity of composite soil, and the data at 50 kHz were recommended as the analytical data. Moreover, a positive connection exists between the strength and resistivity; therefore, the strength can be conveniently and expeditiously observed and predicted through the resistivity method in engineering.
