A marriage is, as it were, a marital agreement and an act of the legal. What is more, that is a very important act of the contract between couple due to be determined their physical,
spiritual relationship, and moral support in their long-lives. Since our society has particularly been based on Confucianism, marriages and family relationships are not only essentials of life that we take for granted, but also have been grounded in our society. Therefore, the matter of the contract(agreement) or the annul of the marriage is in a personal problem as well as in a social issue.
A marriage has supported our society like the above, but it has been fixed into subordinated relationship that has rather men-centered, than collaboration and equality each other, that has been brought about subsidiary ill effects on the oppression of the women's mentality. Because they have been put under the control and the desire to possess of their husband's. Furthermore, What women abide by a system of patriarchal power relationships, has been taken for a virtue. A woman who was deserted by her husband, has felt disgraceful, and a man who betrayed her wife( a wife married in poverty, I would add), has been taken for a worst breach of faith. However women have called for escaping from their oppressed on them, with that modernization there were the development of the industry and economic growth that women could wake up their consciousness. Recently the rate of divorce couple has been increased by showing their attitude toward allowing the divorce that used to be put under taboo. The following the trend of the times, it will be more increased. Our society should appreciate a divorced couple rather be a process of their lives than be as a life-failure from now on.
However it is not easier to divorce each other than we thought. Deciding it in an extreme condition that those couples can't maintain their relationships, they are suffered from another problem that are economic troubles, children matters, and social prejudges. Most of divorce couple can't settle down reasonably the matter of dividing property, the excess of the expenditure due to separate from each other, and the expenses for bringing up their children. Not only divorce couple are afflicted with a sense of social isolation, shocked at it as well, but also their children are.
Having come up for the above discussion many times, we leave the social mutual agreement, and the counter-plan for understanding, supporting them as well. Especially the research has been demanded urgently for the single parent family with their children to support socially. It is necessary to find out further the question of the sentiment, money matters, and the trouble of raising children so that the system of society can support them completely.
Therefore this study aims to investigate intensely the service for supporting a single parent family through interviewing surveying them face to face in the welfare facilities where are much closer to local people by regional groups, so that they can get the more information for the system of supporting them, that enhance the social participation as well.
This thesis consisted of the following. In chapter 1 described the propose and method of it. Chapter 2, on the basis of the theoretical ground for a single parent family through the supporting situations and the study precedent, Chapter 3 ＆ 4 found out the supporting situations of a single parent family based on surveying and interviewing them through local welfare centers. Finally the conclusion is to suggest the alternative of the development and the issues of a single parent family.
