The youth in broken family are needed more detailed and careful attention since they are in a risky environment due to their family structure of which psycho-social environments are different from that of normal family. In order to establish alternative measures for the youth in broken family to School Adjustment environment continuously and to settle them down in some harsh school environments, it is very important to find the main elements which would influence on school adjustment environments. The aim of this paper is looking for the practical directions to improve the empowerment of the youth in broken family through clarifying the main elements which have an influence on school adjustment environments for them.
A questionnaire has conducted to 165 youths in broken family registered in 34 community social welfare centers in Pusan. The methods of data analysis applied in this research are Pearson's correlation, multi-regression and one-way ANOVA using SPSS/Win 8.0.
The major findings of the study are as follows :
1. Self-efficacy is discovered as the major personal empowerment element responsible for school adjustment for the youth in broken family. In other words, the self-efficacy as personal and characteristic feature could be the key element which enable them to adapt diverse school environments.
2. Family strengths are revealed as the main family related empowerment responsible for school adjustment for the youth in a broken family. That is to say, they could be well encouraged and supported from their grand parents or their brothers and sisters, and, as a consequence, they could establish an affirmative attitude toward their family in which they can find their strengths.
3. Supporting from their teacher and lively school environment is discovered as the major social empowerment responsible for school adjustment environments for the youth in a broken family. Psycho-social surroundings, like supporting or encouraging from their teacher and lively school environment, has a major role for them to school adjustment.
Thus, this paper could suggest the new direction of social work to maximize the efficacy of the school adjustment environments for the youth in a broken family through clarifying key empowerments which are latent capabilities in diverse personal and social environments.
