This study explore the potential of the color-mediation in the academy by experimenting on the Girls' High School students. In accordance with the study's purpose, the following hypotheses was formed.
Hypothesis 1: The experimental subject group under the color-mediation will show more meaningful differences between the pre-test and the post-test in the evaluation of the state-anxiety.
As the subject of the study, the girls in two classes of J Girls' High School were chosen. After tested for a preference for and association with colors, the girls were divided into two groups, one for the experimental group, and the other for the controlled group. The experimental group practised color-meditation 5 times a week, 30 times in total (15 minutes each), while the controlled group did not, and then each group had tests. The state anxiety questionnaires were used to analyze the quantitative data. Records of impressions were used to analyze the qualitative data, and those records were made to be written after 30th test.
According to the analysis of the results obtained through repeated experiments to demonstrate the effect of the color-meditation, the girls in the experimental group showed more meaningful decreases in the state-anxiety than those in the controlled group. The qualitative analysis of the records of impressions also indicated that these experiments resulted in positive changes such as the decreases in concern and anxiety, feeling all the more refreshed, satisfied, and happy, controlling their mind, having a clear mind, the increase in concentration, and relieving the stress of the interpersonal relationship and study.
These following conclusions can be drawn from the experiment conducted:
First, color-meditation can be applied to many circumstances in learning by relieving girl students' state-anxiety.
Second, in order to grasp the effect of the color-meditation clearly, both the quantitative and qualitative analysis should be employed. This allows easier understanding of students' psychological state and can be used as the basic materials for consultations with students.
Third, semesters and time should be considered when we plan to apply the meditation study in practice in school.
