The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of thematic development of young children's sandplay-with-box on their creativity.
To achieve the above objective, the specific question is formulated as follows: Has the thematic development of young children's sandplay-with-box effects on their creativity?
To solve the above research question, the following hypothesis were formulated:
Hypothesis 1: There would be significant difference in the fluency development between the experimental group and comparative group and former group's more highly than another group's fluency grade.
Hypothesis 2: There would be significant difference in the originality development between the each groups. The experimental group is higher than the comparative group.
Hypothesis 3: There would be significant difference in the resistance to premature closure development between the experimental group and comparative group.
To verify these hypotheses, the subjects of the this study were randomly sampled 40 five years old children(20 males, 20 females) in the W kindergarten in Jeon-ju.
One class of 20 children(experimental group) was participated in the sandplay-with-box, another group(comparative group) was participated in the traditional education process. And the processes of sand-with-box was composed by design, preliminary check, play and feedback.
The children of the experimental group were experienced 12 units of inquiry according to thematic sandplay-with-box. The period of treatment was 12 weeks, with every 40 minutes section weekly.
As the measurement tools for above both group, before and after the treatment, the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking(A Form) were used.
The main findings of this study can by summarized as follows;
First, hypothesis 1 was accepted. There were significant differences in the fluency development between the experimental group and comparative group.
Second, hypothesis 2 was accepted. There were significant differences in the originality development between the experimental group and comparative group.
Third, hypothesis 3 was accepted. There were significant differences in the resistance to premature closure development between the experimental group and comparative group.
