Reconsidering the importance of the creativity education, the study was done with a purpose of examining the relationship between parent's rearing attitude and child's creativity.
In order to achieve the purpose of the study, the following problems were made.
1. Is there difference in the parent's rearing behavior depending on the background variables(age, education level, job, income)?
2. Is there difference in the child's creativity depending on the background variables?
3. What relationship do parent's rearing attitude and child's creativity have?
The study was done on 152 5-year-old children of the creativity development center located in Gyeonggi and their parents. In order to analyze the parent's rearing attitude, the study used the father's rearing attitude questionnaire of Sun-Myung Hwang(1994) and the rearing attitude questionniare of Young-Mi Ko(1995). In order to analyze the child's creativity, the K-FCTYC of Kyung-Won Jun was used.
In order to analyze the collected data, the SPSS WINDOWS 10.0 was used.
As for the analysis methods, the chi-square analysis was done to find out the difference in the parent's rearing attitude depending on the parent's background variables that are age, education level, job, and income. In order to find out the difference in the child's creativity depending on the background variables, the study carried out the t-test and ANOVA. Also, the ANOVA was done to see the difference in the child's creativity depending on the parent's rearing attitude. When there was significant difference, the Duncan's post-hoc was done to examine the difference among the groups.
Also, the t-test was done to see the difference in the child's creativity depending on the correspondence of the parent's rearing behavior. The followings show the summarized results of the study.
First, there was no difference in the parent's rearing attitude depending on the parent's background variables.
Second, the study looked into the child's creativity that depends on the background variables. When the mother is a housewife, the child tends to be more open minded than the child whose mother is a working woman. The child's originality is higher when the resident is owned than the child with a rent residence.
Third, the relationship between parent's rearing attitude and child's creativity differs depending on the mother's rearing attitude. In other words, when the mother's rearing attitude is loving-autonomous or loving-controling attitude, the child's sensitiveness and comprehensive creativity are higher than other children.
