This study has a purpose of presenting basic data for a PE program that can improve body composition and basic physical fitness by comparing and analyzing the effects of different intensities of rope-skipping exercise on body composition and basic physical fitness of male students in elementary schools. The study made 24 males students in an elementary school in K City do the rope-skipping exercise, increasing the intensity of the exercise every 2 weeks. The following conclusions were made based on the study.
.The study examined change in the body fat in order to find out the body composition of each group and the result showed that both Experimental Group I and II showed a decrease in body fat but the difference between two groups was not significant. Also, the Control Group showed no significant change.
.As for the change in FFM(Fat Free Mass) of each group, the experimental group I showed significant difference and the other groups did not show any significant difference. Also, the Control Group showed no significant change.
.An investigation was done on the fate rate of each group and the result showed that there was no significant difference between Experimental Group I and II. The Control Group showed a great decrease but there was no significant change.
.In order to see the basic physical fitness of each group, the study looked into the change in muscular strength. The Experimental Group I and II did not have any significant difference. Also, the Control Group showed no significant change.
.The Experimental Group I and II showed high increases in muscular endurance and there was significant difference between the groups. The Control Group showed no significant change.
.The Experimental Group I and II showed increases in power and the groups showed significant difference. The Control Group showed no significant change.
.The Experimental Group I and II showed high increases in flexibility and they had significant difference but the Control Group showed no significant change.
.The Experimental Group I and II showed no significant difference in change of balancing ability and the Control Group also showed no significant change.
.There was significant difference in the change of endurance between Experimental Group I and II but the Control Group showed no significant change.
The study results show us that the rope-skipping exercise of mid intensity is more effective for weight loss and desirable body composition. In order to improve the basic physical fitness such as muscular strength, endurance, power, balance, and etc., the rope-skipping exercise of high intensity is more effective. Also, for improvement of basic physical fitness such as muscular strength, endurance, power, flexibility, and body endurance, the rope-skipping exercise of mid-high intensity is more effective. I expect more rope-skipping exercise programs with more diverse intensities for the children in future.
