어휘력 신장 방안 연구 : 초등학교 3학년 읽기를 중심으로 = (A) Study on the method of improving vocabulary ability of elementary students : focused on the reading ability of third grade stdtents in elementary school

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 아동의 어휘력 신장을 도모하기 위하여 초등학교 3학년 어휘 지도 방법을 구안하는 데 있다. 특히, 초등학교 3학년 국어과 교과서의 내용과 수준은 전반적으로 어렵게 구성되어있기 때문에 3학년 아동들에게 적합한 어휘 지도 방안을 모색하게 되었다.
Ⅱ장에서는 어휘 지도의 이론적 배경을 살펴보았다. 어휘와 어휘력의 개념, 어휘 지도의 목표와 내용을 제시하였다.
Ⅲ장에서는 어휘 지도의 원리와 방법에 대해 살펴보았다. 3학년 읽기 교과서에 나타난 어휘를 분석했고, 어휘 지도 요소 선정 원리를 제시하였다.
본 연구의 이러한 시도는 초등교육에서 어휘 지도를 위한 기초 어휘를 확정하고자 하는 것은 아니다. 다만, 효율적인 어휘 지도 방향을 모색하고, 나아가서는 본 연구가 현장 교육에서 어휘 지도의 한 참고자료로 이용될 수 있을 것이다.
Ⅳ장에서는 어휘 지도의 방안과 실제에 대해 다루었다. 초등학교 3학년의 발달 단계와 수준에 알맞은 여러 가지 효율적인 어휘 지도 방법을 구안하여 제시 하였다. 또한 교과서에 나온 내용을 가지고 실제 현장에서 적용해 보았다. 3학년에서 알맞은 기본수준의 어휘 지도 방안으로는 1) 범주화를 통한 지도 2) 의미지도 그리기 3) 말놀이(언어 유희)를 통한 지도 4) 유의어와 반의어를 통한 지도 5) 짧은 글짓기를 통한 지도 방법 6) 유추와 연상에 의한 지도 등이 있다. 심화 수준의 어휘 지도 방안으로는 1) 독서를 통한 지도 방법 2) 문장 늘여 쓰기 3) 대화글 및 문장 만들기를 제시하여 어휘력 신장을 위한 방법을 모색하였다. 또 글의 갈래별 어휘 지도 방안으로 운문 단원의 어휘 지도와 설명문 단원의 어휘 지도 방법을 모색하였다.
국어 교육이 목표하는 의사소통 능력을 향상시키기 위해서는 가장 기초적인 어휘 지도가 중요하다. 특히, 어휘 지도에서 단편적이고 임시방편적인 지도 방법에서 탈피하여, 어휘의 의미를 폭넓게 이해할 수 있는 체계적인 어휘 지도 방법이 개발되어야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to elucidate the teaching methods of vocabulary for third grade students in elementary schools to improve their vocabulary ability.
The contents of the Korean textbook for third grade students are especially difficult and for the reason I began to search the teaching methods of vocabulary which are suitable for them. Chapter II is on theoretical background of teaching vocabulary. There are concepts of vocabulary and vocabulary ability and purpose and contents of teaching vocabulary.
Chapter III is on the principle and methods of teaching vocabulary. Vocabulary in the reading textbook for 3rd grade students have been analyzed and a principle of selection for elements of teaching vocabulary has been suggested.
The attempt of this study is not to extend basic vocabulary for teaching vocabulary in elementary education but it will be used to find an effective direction for teaching vocabulary and furthermore, as a reference of teaching vocabulary in a class.
Chapter IV is on the methods and examples of teaching vocabulary. A few effective methods of teaching vocabulary which are suitable for the development phase and level of 3rd grade students are searched and suggested. The contents of the textbook were also used in a class. The teaching methods of vocabulary which are suitable for the level of 3rd grade students are 1)Teaching with a category, 2)Drawing a map of meaning, 3)Teaching with paronomasia, 4)Teaching with synonym and antonym, 5) Teaching with a short writing, and 6) Teaching with analogy and association. The teaching methods of vocabulary for higher level are 1) Reading, 2)Writing longer sentences and 3)Making dialogues and compositions. Teaching vocabulary with a poem unit and with a description unit are suggested as teaching methods of vocabulary for several language parts.
Teaching vocabulary which is basic to improve communication ability, the purpose of Korean education, is important. Especially teachers should break from the scrappy and temporary teaching methods of vocabulary and a systematical teaching methods of vocabulary should be developed to understand meaning of vocabulary widely.
