This study aims to examine the influence of bibliotherapy on changing the learning attitudes of children who had anxiety about announcement to others.
For this sake, total 30 pupils(3rd graders) who often felt anxious about announcement to others were sampled from S Elementary School located in Gyeonggi province. Those samples were divided into experimental and control group(15 pupils respectively). Experimental group was asked to join bibliotherapy over 10 times(for 60 minutes once a week), while control group was left without any treatment. To determine any effect of bibliotherapy, a test for the anxiety about announcement and the learning attitude was performed to both groups before and after applying bibliotherapy respectively, so that it may analyze any significant difference between both groups.
The results of this study can be outlined as follows:
1. As a result of testing for the anxiety about announcement in comparison between experimental group under bibliotherapy program and control group, it was found that there were more or less significant differences between both groups in the extent of anxiety about announcement, anxiety about self-assessment and sociability.
2. As a result of testing for the change in learning attitudes in comparison between experimental group under bibliotherapy program and control group, it was found that there were more or less significant differences between both groups in the change of attitudes to schoolwork and change of relationships with teachers and classmates.
Summing up, it was demonstrated that experimental group under bibliotherapy program felt less anxious about announcement and took better effects in the change of learning attitudes than control group.
Hence, it is concluded that bibliotherapy has very positive effects on relieving grade schoolers' anxiety about announcement to others and changing their learning attitudes.
