Arising from the social atmosphere equivalent to the surging roar of individualism and self-centeredness, below the nuclear family's system, family education is seeing many changes with parents' child-rearing abilities decreasing.
Due to the surging roar of individualism and self-centeredness in today's society, parents' child-rearing abilities are decreasing and family education is changing a lot.
In fact, the increasing amount of divorce, families that live separately, and split-up families is the actual state of things now. In present day families, it was proven almost absolute that having mass media was of relative importance television especially, can be said to be functioning as a main part of juvenile's socializing in the family.
Like the above information we are working with problems of the present day family going adrift from being deprived of a direction of education and of my goal.
We looked at Emile Durkheim's theory for education for children's character education and saw that his goal for education was in socializing. As a social worker, human is able to accomplish human's cultivation and training which is education.
The foundation for that is 「Moral Education」 Durkheim's work about juvenile's morality, moral education and what he has analyzed about these are as follows.
He analyzed that they were that three fundamental dispositions of starting morality. They were the spirit of Discipline, Attachment to social groups and Autonomy or Self-determination
Spirit of discipline has two different sides, keeping the rules and regulations and having control over one's desires. In harmonizing, the entire society, these two different sides can either become the motive power or the lack of them can bring about the dangers of the society breaking
The second is attachment to social groups. Human live together with egoeistic and altruistic minds. he saw that these two dispositions are not in an opposing state
The third one is autonomy or self-determination. Durkheim saw that moral education is something normal and at the same time holds something autonomic in human beings.
People just behaving morally and keeping the rules and loving the society as a group is complete. People have to have a clear awareness about why they behave they way, they do, they need the intellect and understanding of morality
In recognizing the reasons and basis of their behaviors, they need to understand and have knowledge about morality. He maintains that it is precisely one's own will to control oneself which is the true purpose of reasonable moral education.
Let's look at the functions and meanings which Durkheim's theories have in character education in our present day nuclear family system. first, there is sprite of discipline which is an important factor to us people living in the present time. It is something that is needed more than any other time and could be called a moral characteristic. Second, there is the important factor of attachment to social groups which is of great significance in our present day society. This, however, does not mean nationalism. It is not just seeking for the benefit of one's own country only, but it is the society which even more than an ideology of peace for all humankind, realizing a universal ideal. The third important factor is autonomy or self-determination these days, which the direction our moral education is going. The understanding and knowledge of moral and the control of one's desires can show us a lot.
Namely when it was said that moral development is socialization. It was not meant that a juvenile's growth is as an individual for him or himself, conforming to social authority. But it is becoming an individual as a member of society.
This is because of the fact that for socialization to happen, there needs to be an authorization to make people obey rules and official discipline is needed.
It could also be said that it is because a lot of stress is put on those in charge of education and teachers. So it shows that in our present day society. The problems are in the breakdown of teacher's authority and juvenile's character education. The efforts in raising children who have good characteristic starts from thiere parents and it has to be done together with school. Society needs to prepare the atmosphere for school. The children's characteristic raised like this is shown in the society.
