The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of inclusive wheelchair dance program on the changes of physical self- concept(sports confidence, external feature, body fat/slim, flexibility, stamina, self-esteem, health, physical activity), blood stress hormone(catecholamine, serotonin, cortisol)of persons with physical disability.
To accomplish purpose of this study, 20 of persons with physical disability were selected and divided into two groups, experimental group(n=10), control group(n=10). The experimental procedure was composed pre-test, treatment of experiment, and post-test with an inclusive wheelchair dance program being implemented 4 days per weeks, for 10 weeks.
Physical self-concept, blood stress hormone were measured pre-post test inclusive wheelchair dance program. Data were analyzed using two-way repeated ANOVA, t-test. The 5% level of significant was used as the critical level for acceptance of hypotheses for the study. Analyzed of the data revealed the following conclusions.
First, After the inclusive wheelchair dance program, sports confidence, external feature, body fat/slim, stamina, self-esteem and physical activity were significant interaction among group and time.
Second, After the inclusive wheelchair dance program, dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine were significant interaction among group and time. But serotonin and cortisol weren't interaction among group and time.
Third, After the inclusive wheelchair dance program, sports confidence showed correlation in external feature and flexibility. External feature showed correlation in body fat/slim, stamina and physical activity. Body fat/slim showed correlation in stamina, self-esteem and physical activity. Stamina showed correlation in self-esteem. Self-esteem showed correlation in physical activity.
After the inclusive wheelchair dance program, dopamine showed correlation in sports confidence and stamina. Norepinephrine showed negative correlation in external feature. Norepinephrine was correlated with epinephrine.
As a result of this conclusion, this study showed that 10 weeks inclusive wheelchair dance program of persons with physical disability increased sports confidence, external feature, body fat/slim, stamina, self-esteem and physical activity. Also, blood stress hormone showed very effective in improving, so it could be considered as one of effective ways for the inclusive setting program and increasing quality of life physical disability persons.
