도시지역 중학생의 환경친화적 행동을 위한 환경에 대한 감수성 함양에 관한 연구 : 학교 숲을 중심으로 = (A) Study on building up the sensitivity to environment for pro-environmental behavior of the students in cities : in the metropolitan districts

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근에 환경친화적인 행동과 관련하여, 환경에 대한 감수성의 함양에 체험학습이 중요한 교수 · 학습법으로 인정되고 있다.
이 연구는 학교 숲을 활용한 생태체험학습이 환경에 대한 감수성의 함양에 미치는 효과와 환경에 대한 감수성과 환경친화적인 행동의 상관관계를 알아보고자 하였다.
이를 위해, 서울시 서대문구 지역의 중학생 70명을 대상으로, 실험집단은 학교 주변 숲을 활용한 생태체험학습을 실시하고 통제집단은 교실에서 환경수업을 실시하였으며, 그 결과를 다음과 같이 도출하였다.
첫째, 학교 숲을 활용한 생태체험학습 프로그램은 환경에 대한 감수성과 환경친화적인 행동의 변화에 매우 효과적인 환경교육 교수 · 학습방법으로 밝혀졌다.
둘째, 학교 숲을 활용한 생태체험학습은 교실에서의 환경수업에 비해 환경에 대한 감수성을 보다 유의미하게 향상시키는 것으로 나타났으나, 두 집단 사이에 환경친화적인 행동의 변화는 유의미한 차이가 없었다.
셋째, 숲 생태체험학습 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단의 검사 결과, 환경에 대한 감수성과 환경친화적인 행동의 상관관계는 비교적 높은 것으로 나타났다.
이 연구 결과, 학교 숲을 활용한 생태체험학습이 교실에서의 환경수업에 비해 환경에 대한 감수성의 함양에 보다 효과적인 환경교육 교수 · 학습방법임을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 도시지역 학교의 경우, 생활 주변에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 자연을 체험학습 소재로 이용하는 방안을 적극 모색해야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The goal of this study is to investigate the effect of ecological experience program on increasing the sensitivity to environment and to reveal the correlation between pro-environmental behavior and the sensitivity to environment.
In order to perform this study, 70 middle school students in Seoul are selected and divided into two groups.
Half of the students belong to the experimental group which undergoes ecological experience program in the school forest. The others are in the control group which get environmental instruction in the classroom.
The results of this study are as follows:
First, it is found that the ecological experience program in the school forest can be an effective method on building up the sensitivity to environment and pro-environmental behavior.
Second, the ecological experience program in the school forest has more influence on increasing the sensitivity to environment than the general environment instruction in the classroom, but it has no meaningful difference on changing pro-environmental behavior between two groups.
Third, according to the test result of the experimental group which undergoes ecological experience program in the school forest, there is a high correlation between the sensitivity to environment and pro-environmental behavior.
Through this research, it was proved that the ecological experience program in the school forest was an effective method for building up the sensitivity to environment of students. Therefore, it is highly recommended that schools in the metropolitan districts use nature as the subject material of those experience programs.
