The purpose of this study was to examine the effect on drawing expression abilities of four and five-rear-old children through folk art-centered drawing's appreciative activities for 12 weeks.
To meet this purpose, three research questions were established as follows:
First, does expression's level of young children who have experiences in drawing's appreciative activities differ from that of those who have no experiences?
Second, does exploration's level of young children who have experiences in drawing's appreciative activities differ from that of those who have no experiences?
Third, does artistry level of young children who have experiences in drawing's appreciative activities differ from that of those who have no experiences?
The subjects of this experiment were 40 four and five-year-old chilon, who are attending N_(1) and N_(2) kindergarten at Nohwaup in Wando, Jollanamdo.
Experimental group is made up of 20 young children who are attending N_(1) kindergarten.
Control group is selected from 20 young children who are attending N_(2) kindergarten.
Young children in the experimental group took part in folk art-centered drawing's appreciative activities which are related the theme of life and then they do drawing's expression activities while young children in the control group worked on traditional drawing's expression which is generally done in kindergarten.
To test young children drawing's expression abilities, Project Spectrum on visual art domain was used in expression's level and search's level and artistry level.
Both groups were tested by pretest and post test, the data gained from the research were analyzed by t-test using SPSS computer program.
The results of this study were summarized as follows:
First, there were meaningful differences in the expression's level of drawings expression between two groups. Young children in experimental group scored higher than the control group in terms of basic forms, color uses, and spatial integration's expression.
