This study was to investigate how the level of physical competence perception and exercise periods influence on intrinsic motivation and achievement goal orientations concerned with the rope-skipping task of elementary school students. The subjects of this study consist of 60 boys among the 6th grade students of elementary school; each 30 students by physical competence perception (high rank: 20%, low rank 20%). The questionnaires developed by Ryan(1982) and translated by Sung, Chang Hun(1996) were used to measure the intrinsic motivation and the questionnaires developed by Duda and Nicholls(1989) and translated by Lee, Ae Suk(2000) on sports achievement goal intention as to measure the intention of accomplishing goal. The collected data calculated the average and variance ciassified by each level of physical competence perception and exercise periods and performing the 2-way ANOVA through repeating measures. The results as follows;
First, the group of high level of physical competence perception showed higher task intention than that of low level of physical competence perception in rope skipping. But, there are no differences by each exercise periods.
Second, the group of high level of physical competence perception showed higher self-intention than that of low level of physical competence perception in rope skipping. But, there are no differences by each exercise periods.
Third, the group with high level of physical competence perception showed higher interest than that of low level of physical competence perception in rope skipping. But, there are no differences by each exercise periods.
Forth, the group with high level of physical competence perception showed higher competence than that of low level of physical competence perception in rope skipping . But, there are no differences by each exercise periods.
Fifth, the group with high level of physical competence perception showed higher efforts than that of low level of physical competence perception in rope skipping. But, there are no differences by each exercise periods.
Sixth, the group with high level of physical competence perception showed higher tension than that of low level of physical competence perception in rope skipping. But, there are no differences by each exercise periods.
