    This thesis attempts to investigate the relationship among the three variables which may be important in understanding our elementary pupils esp. in Korea: the parents' academic achievement pressure which elementary pupils think to be given to them(parents' academic achievement pressure: PAP), the academic self which elementary pupils think to have as their own(pupils' academic self: PAS) and their attitude toward the pressure(pupils' attitude toward the academic achievement pressure: PAA).
    To achieve this aim more effectively, the following sub-questions were asked and inquired. (1) How much do the elementary pupils think PAP given to them? (2) What is the level of their own PAS? (3) What kind of relationship is there between PAP and PAS? (4) What is the level of PAA which they perceive? (5) What kind of relationship is there between PAS and PAA?
    Three research instruments were developed in this thesis. These are the questions about PAP, PAS and PAA. But these three instruments were included in the one questionnaire. The number of subjects were 257 sixth graders of 6 elementary schools in two areas, that are the town and the county of Changwon city.
    T-test was applied to the statistical analyses of PAP, PAS and PAA individually. T-test and correlation coefficient, to the statistical analyses of the relationship between PAP and PAS and between PAS and PAA.
    The findings of this thesis may be summarized as follows:
    (1) The elementary pupils think that PAP is given to them not high but more than the average(M=3.10). They think that the mother's PAP is higher than the father's, and the PAP of the male pupils is higher than the females. However there is no significant difference of PAP in such variables as the residence area, the presence of mothers' job and the level of parents' schooling.
    (2) The level of PAS which the elementary pupils have as their own is rather high and the sub-elements of PAS are high, too. Though there is no difference of the level of PAS between the males and the females, the level of PAS in town is higher than that in county.
    (3) There is no significant correlation between PAP and PAS, and in the residence area. But there is some significant correlation between PAP and PAS in the gender, that is, the correlation between PAP and PAS in the males is more significant than that in the females.
    (4) PAA is lower than the average, that is, the elementary pupils don't think ill of their parents pressing them to achieve some high academic achievements. There is no significant difference in such variables as the gender and the residence area.
    (5) Totally speaking, there is no significant correlation between PAP and PAA. But there is some more significant correlation between PAP and PAA in such variables as the mothers and the males than that in the fathers and the females.
