The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of decorating and making activity with newspapers on the improvement of the preschool child's creativity.
To achieve this purpose of the study, the concrete subjects are the following.
A. How does the activity of decorating and making with newspapers affect on the fluency of the creativity?
B. How does the activity of decorating and making with newspapers affect on the flexibility of the creativity?
C. How does the activity of decorating and making with newspapers affect on the originality of the creativity?
D. How does the activity of decorating and making with newspapers affect on the imaginative power of the creativity?
The subjects of this study consisted of 60 five-year-old private kindergarteners, who were randomly divided into two groups; the experimental group of 30 and the control group of 30.
For the experimental group the activity of decorating and mating with newspapers. was operated, and for the control group the general art activity was done. The study was carried out from Aug. 26 to Oct. 25, 2002; total 27 times operated. The experiment was carried out at the children's freely collected time, and each experiment period was 50 minutes.
The investigation instrument used in the study was Jeon Kyung-won(2001)'s Infants Total Creativity Investigation and which was tested before and after experiment.
The total creativity was the score of the creativity added up those of the fluency, flexibility, and originality, and imaginative ability. For the analysis of data, t-test was used. The level of statistical signification was point 05.
The findings of this study are following;
First, the total mean score of the creativity of the experimental group(X=55.57) was higher than that of the control group(X=50.84). The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (t=5.84, p<.05).
Second, the mean score of the experimental group (X=56.37) was higher than that of the control group(X=50.34) in the fluency of creativity(t=6.73, p<.05).
Third, the mean score of the experimental group(X=56.20) was higher than that of the control group(X=53.34)in the flexibility of the creativity(t=6.73, p<.05).
Fourth, the mean score of the experimental group(X=55.93) was higher than that of the control group(X=51.00) in the originality of the creativity(t=2.50, p<.05).
Fifth, the mean score of the experimental group(X=53.77) was higher than that of the control group(X=48.66) in the fluency imaginative(t=3.12, p<.05).
Sixth, it would be concluded that decorating and making activity with newspapers affected on the improvement of infants' creativity.
