The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of program of the natural observation activities on children's observational attitudes and the representation abilities. For this I selected 20 kindergarten children, who were 5 years old, and divided them into two groups: 10 for experimental group and 10 for control group. The experimental group made observational activities for 16 weeks and then did story sharing and representation activities about 11 subjects. On the other hand, the control group made story sharing and representation activities without observational activities.
To measure the changes of the observational attitudes and the representation activities between the two groups, I used the investigation equipments in the main research and verified them through the pre-tests and post-tests. And also were checked the sexual differences between boys and girls in the observational attitudes and the representation abilities of the experimental group and the control group. The data were calculated by t-test. The result of this study is as follows:
First, the children of the experimental group who experienced the natural observation activities were more active in the observation attitude than those of the control group who did not experience the natural observation activity.
Second, the children of the experimental group who experienced the natural observation activities showed greater increase of the representation ability than those of the control group who did not experience the natural observation activity.
Third, when the representation activities were made after the natural observation activities, it was resulted that there was no difference between boys and girls in the observational attitude and the representation ability.
Before they joined the natural observational activity program, boys were prior to girls in the observational attitude and the representation ability. But after the performance of the natural observation activities, no significant statistical difference in them could not find between boys and girls. Therefore, it is shown that the natural observation activity program is more effective for girls.
