This study intended to inquire into the relationship between the leadership and operation ability of preschool directors and the job satisfaction of preschool teachers.
This study has surveyed from 240 teachers at the public and private preschool located in Busan and Gyeongnam. Halpin's LBDQ (Leasership Behavior Description Questionnaire) was used in measuring the leadership of directors, and Assessment Standard of Kindergarten Education Programs given by Lee and Lee (1996) was used in measuring the operation ability of them. In addition, the job satisfaction of kindergarten teachers was evaluated by the modified version of ECJSS (Early Childhood Job Satisfaction Survey) by Bloom(1988).
The results of the survey can be summarized as follows:
1. Negative correlations were found in the area of several sub-factors between directors' leadership and their operational abilities.
2. Preschool directors exhibited a variety of differences in their leadership and operational ability, depending upon their ecological factors.
3. Teachers showed a variety of differences in their job satisfaction by their ecological factors.
4. Positive correlations between directors' leadership and teachers' job satisfaction were found in the area of several sub-factors.
5. In the area of several sub-factors, negative correlations were observed between directors' operational ability and teachers' job satisfaction.
