식물 가꾸기 활동이 초등학교 학생들의 정서에 미치는 효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 식물 가꾸기 활동이 초등학생들의 정서에 미치는 효과를 검증하는데 있었다. 이를 위해 식물 가꾸기 프로그램을 구안하여 적용한 실험집단과 적용하지 않은 비교집단의 전후, 좌우, 남녀 학생들의 정서점수에는 차이가 없을 것이라는 가설을 설정하고, 이를 검증하기 위하여 서운초등학교 4학년 2개 학급을 실험집단과 비교집단으로 선정하였다.
연구자가 구안한 식물 가꾸기 프로그램을 2002년 5월말부터 10월말까지 약 5개월에 걸쳐 적용하였으며, 실험의 설계는 전후검사 통제집단 설계(pretest- posttest control-group design) 방법을 이용하여 적용 후의 효과를 분석하였다. 자료의 분석은 SPSSWIN 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 기술 분석(description)과 변량분석(t-test)등을 실시하였으며, 유의 수준은 .05로 설정하였다.
이 연구를 통하여 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 식물 가꾸기 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단과 비교집단의 정서점수를 검증한 결과 의미 있는 차이가 나타나 식물 가꾸기 활동이 실험집단의 정서함양에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것이 검증되었다.
둘째, 식물 가꾸기 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단의 전후 정서점수를 검증한 결과 의미 있는 차이가 나타나 식물 가꾸기 활동이 실험집단의 정서함양에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것이 검증되었다.
셋째, 식물 가꾸기 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단의 남녀학생들의 정서점수를 검증한 결과 여학생들의 정서점수에 의미 있는 차이가 나타나 식물 가꾸기 활동이 여학생들의 정서함양에 더 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것이 검증되었다.
이상의 결과를 종합하면 초등학생을 대상으로 한 식물 가꾸기 활동이 초등학생의 정서함양에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 판단된다.
이 연구의 결과를 토대로 초등학생들의 정서함양을 위한 식물 가꾸기 활동의 적용과 이를 위한 후속 연구를 위한 몇 가지 제언을 하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 식물 가꾸기 활동이 초등학생들의 정서함양에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것이 검증되었으므로 이를 널리 일반화하기 위해서는 학교에 식물 가꾸기 활동에 필요한 식물 교재원과 실습지, 이에 필요한 실습기구의 확보가 필요하다.
둘째, 최근의 도시 초등학교에서는 공간 부족으로 인해 식물 가꾸기를 위한 식물 교재원과 실습지 확보가 어려우므로 이를 대체할 수 있는 다양한 식물 가꾸기 방법이 모색되어야 할 것이다.
셋째, 식물 가꾸기 활동이 초등학생들의 정서함양에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것이 검증되었으므로 이 프로그램을 널리 보급하기 위한 방안이 강구되어야 할 것이다.
넷째, 차후에는 학년과 지역, 성별 특성을 고려한 좀더 다양한 식물 가꾸기 프로그램의 개발을 위한 후속 연구가 필요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of plant learning activities upon elementary school students' emotion. For the purpose, plant learning program was developed, and two(2) classes in the fourth year course of Seo Un Elementary School were selected as experimental group and control group in order to verify a hypothesis that "There will be no difference between experimental group and control group in their emotion scores according to pretest-and-posttest, right-and-left, and male-and- female."
The plant learning program, which researcher developed, was applied to experimental group for about five(5) months from the end of May 2002 to the end of October 2002, and with pretest-posttest and right-and-left comparative method the effect of experimentation was analyzed. For the analysis of data, Descriptives and Analysis of Variance(T-test) were applied by using SPSSWIN statistical program, and significant level was .05.
The major findings of the study were as follows;
Firstly, as a result of verifying the emotion scores of control group and experimental group applying plant learning program, there was a significant difference. So it was verified that plant learning activities had a positive influence on the cultivation of emotion in experimental group.
Secondly, as a result of verifying the emotion scores of experimental group applying plant learning program according to before-and-after experimentation, a significant difference was found. So it was verified that plant learning activities had a positive influence on the cultivation of emotion in experimental group.
Thirdly, as a result of verifying the emotion scores of experimental group applying plant learning program according to male-and-female students, a significant difference was found from female students' emotion point. So it was verified that plant learning activities had a more positive effect on the cultivation of female students' emotion.
Generalizing the above results, it is verified that plant learning activities applied to elementary school students have a positive effect on the cultivation of elementary school students' emotion.
Based on the above results, some recommendations were suggested for applying plant learning activities for the cultivation of elementary school students' emotion and for the future studies.
Firstly, it was verified that plant learning activities have a positive effect on the cultivation of elementary school students' emotion. Therefore, to generalize the fact, school garden, practical site, and practical tool needed for plant learning activities should be prepared.
Secondly, it's hard to prepare school garden and practical site for plant learning activities at urban schools due to the lack of space, hence to solve the problem a variety of methods for plant learning activities should be found.
Thirdly, it is verified that plant learning activities have a positive effect on the cultivation of elementary school students' emotion, so various strategies to spread the plant learning activities should be made.
Fourthly, further studies for the development of various plant learning programs considering the characteristics of school year, area, and gender should be followed in the future.
