The purpose of this study is to find out the relationships between the parent's child-rearing attitudes and the child's positive development of sociality by searching for how the parent's child-rearing attitudes effect the child's sociality.
Following subjects were established to achieve such purpose ;
First, According to the parent's child-rearing attitudes, does it make the child has different sociality estimated by their parents and teachers?
Second, According to the parent's child-rearing attitudes, does it make the child has different social popularity estimated by the same-age group?
For dealing with these kind of subjects, questionnaires were administered to 600 children, who are 5 to 6 years old, parents and teachers in 15 facilities in Pohang. 420 questionnaires among them were finally selected for data.
Questionnaires consist of these categories : The parent's child-rearing attitudes are classified into four dimensions - affectionate attitude, controlled attitude, inconsistent attitude and superfluous attitude. The sociality estimated by parents and teachers are classified into four dimensions - social activator, reassurance, cooperative, hypersensitive, uncooperative. The sociality estimated by same-age group are classified into two dimensions - positive popularity and negative popularity.
The result of analyzing he data are as follows ;
First, There was significant difference in the sociality estimated by their parents and teachers according to the parent's child-rearing attitudes. If the parents are affectionate, the child's reassurance and cooperative are high. but the hypersensitive and cooperative are low. On the other hand, the child whose parents' attitude is control-oriented, inconsistent or superfluous, its reassurance and cooperative which are low grades of the children's sociality are low. but the hypersensitive and uncooperative are high.
Second, There was significant difference in the children's social popularity estimated by the same-age group according to the parent's child-rearing attitudes. If the parents are affectionate, the positive popularity of the children is high. but the negative popularity of the children is low. On the other hand, the child whose parents' attitude is control-oriented, inconsistent or superfluous, the positive popularity of the children is low. but the negative popularity of the children is high.
On the basis of these results, this study showed that the parent's child-rearing attitude is one of the most important factor which affect the children's sociality.
