The purpose and meaning of this study is to provide the teachers of a kindergarten with basic materials which enable them to make the best use of 'teachers reading of pictured storybook and infants discussion'by reviewing the effects on the social and emotional development of the infant.
The following subjects are selected according to the above purpose .
1. what is the influence of 'teachers reading of pictured storybook and infants discussion'on the infant's social and emotional development ?
1-1. what is the influence of it on the infant's non-dependence on teachers ?
1-2. what is the influence of it on the infant's inner control ?
1-3. what is the influence of it on the infant's interaction with fellows ?
1-4. what is the influence of it on the infant's comfortableness in the kindergarten ?
1-5. what is the influence of it on the infant's desire to achievement ?
1-6. what is the influence of it on the infant's curiosity ?
The subjects of this study were 40 infants(20 boys and 20 girls) of age 5 attending the kindergarten in the B elementary school in An-dong City, Kyeong buk, 20 infants(10 boys, 10 girls) in the experimental group and 20 infants(10 boys, 10 girls) in the controlled group.
Their ages were ranged from 5 years and 3 months to 6 years and 0 months, and the average age was 5 years and 7 months.
16 volumes of pictured storybook with social and emotional subject were used as the tools of this study, and the valuation index developed by KIRBS(Korean Institute for Research in the Behaviour Sciences)(1978) and revised by Mun Mi Ok(1987) was used to rate the infant's social and emotional development .
To demonstrate the subjects of this study, T-verification was performed after finding a grade of valuation index of social and emotional development of the experimental group and controlled group .
The outcomes of this research are as follows,
1. 'Teachers reading of pictured storybook and infants discussion'has an affirmative effect on the infant's social and emotional development(p<.01.).
1-1. It did not have a significant effect on the infant's non-dependence on teachers.
1-2. It has a significant effect on the infant's inner control(p<.01.).
1-3. It has a significant effect on the infant's interaction formation with fellows(p<.01.).
1-4. It has a significant effect on the infant's comfortableness formation in the kindergarten(p<.01.).
1-5. It has a significant effect on the infant's achievement-desire formation(p<.01.).
1-6. It has a significant effect on the infant's curiosity formation(p<.01.).
