    At the late period of childhood, a mother takes the important role as a rearer though the time mother and child spend together is reduced. Therefore, the mother's attitude of rearing and language controlling are very important for children's development of emotion and intelligence.
    The mother's attitude of rearing revealed while facing, teaching and caring her child and The mother's language controlling related with how much a mother give her child a freehand and use phrases considering her child's situation ; All these are investigated in this study if they have an effect on child's emotion and intelligence as a variables. The purpose of this study is to present a basic material for forming the harmonious relation between mother and child.
    Followings are the concrete subjects of research ;
    First, will the child's emotion and intelligence show any difference according to a mother's attitude of rearing perceived by a child?
    Second, will the child's emotion and intelligence show any difference according to a mother's attitude of language controlling perceived by a child?
    The subjects of this study were the 270 entire 4th graders in S elementary school located in Daegu Metropolitan City. The term of investigation was between March 28 and 30, 2001. Among the collected questionnaires, 224 sheets were taken for analysis and the ones half-filled or written by those whose mother isn't alive were excluded.
    Measuring tool was questionnaire and the mother's attitude of rearing, the mother's pattern of language control and the child's emotion and intelligence were measured by child's perception.
    The mother's attitude of rearing was measured in partial by the scale that Oh, Seong Sim and Lee, Jong Seung(1982) produced based on Schaefer's questionnaire MBRI(Matenal Behavior Research Instrument). The mother's pattern of language control was measured by the scale that Lee, Kyeong Hi produced based on the research by Bernstein(1971) and Gumperz(1973) and previous domestic researches. The emotion and intelligence was measured by Mun, Yong Rin(1996)'s Child Emotion & Intelligence Instrument.
    Multivariate analysis was performed to investigate the change of child's emotion & intelligence according to the mother's attitude of rearing and the mother's pattern of language control. If there is a statistically significant difference, singlevariate analysis was performed to understand multivariate analysis more concretely.
    The results of the study are as follows ;
    First, the child's emotion and intelligence showed a difference according to the mother's attitude of rearing(autonomy-control, affection-antagonism).
    Second, the child's emotion and intelligence showed no difference according to the mother's pattern of language control(imperative, position-oppressive, humanistic).
    In conclusion, it was found out that the child's emotion & intelligence is influence by the mother's attitude of rearing. Out of the attitude of rearing, the affection-antagonism part has an effect on the child's emotional adjustment and application. In other words, the more affectionate the mother's attitude of rearing is, the higher the grade of emotional adjustment and emotional application that are the sub-categories of emotion & intelligence become. Besides, when autonomy is given and the mother is affectionate, the grade of child's emotional adjustment get higher. The child's emotion & intelligence showed no difference according to the mother's pattern of language control.
