The purpose of the study is to analyze the characteristics and satisfaction/ dissatisfaction variables of never-married singles in their life.
To achieve the purpose, three studies are established as follow and with each subordinate study. <study I > what are the characteristics of never-married singles? <study II> what are the satisfaction variable of never-marred singles?
To achieve this purpose and research the study, most of all, I examined the characteristics of never-married singles and the subordinate study related to satisfaction and dissatisfaction variables. Based on this subordinate study examination, I started pre-investigation for making questionnaire. I researched 8 never-married singles(4 men and 4 women) of over 30 based on the pre- investigation questionnaire and I made out the questionnaire with this pre-investigation and all kinds of items that we had discussion about characteristics and satisfaction/dissatisfaction variable of never married singles through theoretical study.
There are basic elements in the questionnaire to ask like gender, date of their birth, career income, etc., with 6 items and the questionnaire also represents characteristics of never-married singles related to <study I> with 15(16) items, satisfaction degree of them related to <study II> with 19 items and dissatisfaction degree of them about <study III> with 22 items, as the result, it is made up 62 items.
The questionnaire for the study sent out and distributed on Sep 2 1998. In this study first marriage in our country represented 29.5 years old (men) and 26 years old(women) in 1995. Therefore I distributed 300 questionnaire to over 29.5 years old men and 26 years old women. I could collect 290 questionnaire as a whole. Only 262 questionnaire were analyzed for the study except insincere or unsuitable paper.
About characteristics of never-married singles of <study I>, I output the frequency, the percentage or the mean by subordinate study. I also output the answer frequency and percentage depending on autonomous variable like gender, age, social and economic degree and motivation of never-married singles and practiced χ2-test or t-test to the mean and in some case, after I practiced F verification and I practiced LSD post-test for individual-group comparison about having different items because of group difference. In <study II> and <study III> I output properly the answer frequency, percentage and mean value to represent satisfactional dissatisfaction variables of never-married singles and to study gender, age, social economic degree and the motivation of them according to autonomous variables of the subordinate study and them I practiced χ2-test, t-test and anova and in some case, after I practiced F verification and I practiced LSD post-test for individual-group comparison about having different items because of group difference.
Some study results for life characteristics of never-married singles are follows ;
First, men and involuntary never-married singles are more dissatisfied with their life than others.
Second, those who have little income have much more property than the the ones who have a little income.
Third, when they are lonely men proper drinking and women meet friends.
Fourth, old never-married singles or those who have a lot of income have more opposit sex friends than others.
Fifth, never-married single men and non professional never-married singles or involuntary ones have usually more sex partner than others.
Some study results for satisfaction of never-married singles are follows ; First, never-married singles say the freedom in the life as satisfaction factor on the other hand, social discrimination and distorted view as dissatisfaction factor.
Second, over graduate and professional never-married singles are likely to devote themselves to their work as satisfaction factor.
Third, never-married singles men get the lower satisfaction level about release from home and family and the difficulty in the daily life and the problem of sexual desire.
Some study results for dissatisfaction of never-married singles are follows ;
First, as a whole, men say solitude, loneliness and sexual desire and women say economic difficulty, social discrimination and distorted view as dissatisfaction factor in their life.
Second, never-married singles who make a lot of money point out social discrimination, voluntary never-married singles say solitude and loneliness and most of them say sexual bias as dissatisfaction.
Third, professional never-married singles are much more satisfied with their work, investment and economic degree than others.
