The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of parental rearing attitude and rearing attitude consistency between parents to children's self-efficacy and to present a good model of parental rearing attitude for children's self-efficacy.
The subjects of this study were 110 children aged 4 to 5 attended at a kindergarten in Daegu City and Kyungbuk Province and 220 their parents as of June, 2002. This study used the questionnaire method. As research intrument Schaefer(1959)'s Maternal Behavior Research Instrument(MBRI) measured parental rearing attitudes and rearing attitude consistency between parents. As research instrument jeon In-ock(1990)'s Young Children's self-Efficacy Scale(YCSES) measured children's self-effocacy. The data were analyzed by Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient and one way ANOVA for Measure Design using the SPSS computer program.
The research question were posed as follows ;
First, what significant correlation would there be children's self-efficacy for paternal rearing attitude?
Second, what significant correlation would there be children's self-efficacy for maternal rearing attitude?
Third, what significant correlation would there be children/s self-efficacy for rearing attitude consistency between parents?
The results of the research were as follows ;
Firts, there were significant difference to paternal rearing attitude between affection-antagonism pattern and autonomy-contrpl pattern respectively statistically. Children's self-efficacy by father with affective rearing attitude were higher than by father with antagonistic rearing attitude. And children's self-efficacy by father with autonomic rearing attitude were higher than by father with control rearing attitude.
Second, there were significant difference to maternal rearing attitude between affection-antagonism pattern and autonomy-control pattern respectively statistically. Children's sdlf-efficacy by mother with affective rearing attitude were higher than by mother with antagonistic rearing attitude. And children's self-efficacy by mother with autonomic rearing attitude were higher than by mother with control rearing attitude.
Third, there were significant difference to rearing attitude consistency between parents between affection-antagonism pattern and autonomy-control pattern consistency between parents were more high to compared with common groups and antagonistic rearing attitude consistency between parents.
And children's self-efficacy by autonomic rearing attitude consistency between parents were more high to compared with common groups and control rearing attitude consistency between parents.
