발달 장애아 가족의 삶의 질과 사회적 지지욕구에 관한 연구 = (A)study on the quality of life and the desire social support for their developmentally-deficient children

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to analyze the findings of a surveyed group regarding the quality of life for those families who have dcvclopmcntally-dcficicnt childrcn. This was particularly with rcgards to their need for social support and aimed at proposing alternative solutions for boosting their desire for such support.
The Three questions were used in the research:
- 1 : What is the difference in quality of life between those families with developmentally-deficient children and those with normally-developed children?
- 2 : Is there any difference in the level of quality among those families with children who are deficient in their development?
- 3 : What specific social support do such families need in particular?
The participating families were divided into two categories : one group of 200 families with normally-developed children ; a second group of 200 families who have a child or children who have not developed normally. Date was collected through a questionnaire ; with the responses analyzed by using a frequency analysis, t-test and ANOVA.
The results are as follows.
Firstly, families with children who have not developed normally desire public educational programs for early assistance for their children Specifically, they want financial and educational support from the government so as to be providing their children with early diagnosis otheir condition followed by appropriate medical treatment.
Secondly, these families want continued systematic and specialized programs to be provided so as to be meeting their children’s specifi needs.
Thirdly, it is thc dcsirc of thcsc parents for thc cstablishmcnt ogovernment institutions with the aim of providing a consulting service awell as coordinating practical social support for the parents. They believe this practical social support should cover such areas as developin positive attitudes in the community toward people with disabilities; caring for the legal rights of such families; securing employment for the affcctcd children; enhancing thcir quality of lifc; and so on.
