전래동요의 통합적 활용이 유아의 언어능력에 미치는 효과 = (The) effects of integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities on young children's language ability

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 전래동요의 통합적 활용이 유아의 언어능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 알아보는데 그 목적이있다. 이에 따른 구체적인 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
A. 전래동요의 통합적 활용이 유아의 언어이해력(어휘이해력 문장이해력)에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가?
1) 전래동요의 통합적 활용이 유아의 어휘이해력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가?
2) 전래동요의 통합적 활용이 유아의 문장이해력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가?
B. 전래동요의 통합적 활용이 유아의 언어표현력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가?
본 연구대상은 경기도 오산에 위치한 S초등학교 병설유치원의 혼합반(만 4, 5세) 2학급 유아를 각각 실험집단과 비교집단으로 임의로 배정하였다. 연구에 참여한 유아는 총 46명으로 실험집단 23명(4세:10명,5세:13명), 비교집단 23명(4세:10명, 5세:13명)으로 구성하였다. 실험집단과 비교집단간의 연령 및 언어능력에 대한 사전검사 결과 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다.
측정도구로 언어이해력검사는 Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test Revised를 김영태 외 3인(1995)이 표준화한 어휘이해력 검사와 TOLD-2(Test of Language Development-2, Primary)를 장혜성 외 2인(1994)이 표준화한 문장이해력 검사를 사용하였다. 언어표현력검사는 장영애(1981)가 4∼6세아의 수준에 맞게 제작한 언어능력 검사 중 언어표현력 부분을 사용하였다.
실험처치인 전래동요 통합적 활용은 2001년 5월 21일부터 6월 22일까지 약 6주 동안 실시하였다. 반면, 비교집단에는 생활주제와 관련있는 창작동요의 통합적 활용을 실시하였다.
전래동요의 통합적 활용이 언어능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위해 집단간 사전, 사후검사의 차이점수를 t검증하여 분석하였다.
본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 전래동요의 통합적 활용은 유아의 언어이해력 전체에서 뿐만 아니라 그 하위영역인 어휘이해력과 문장이해력에서도 의미하게 향상시킨 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 전래동요의 통합적 활용은 유아의 언어표현력을 의미있게 향상시켰으나 연령에 따라서는 통계적으로 의미있는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구의 결과는 전래동요의 통합적 활용이 유아의 언어능력 증진에 효과가 있음을 나타내주고 있다. 따라서 유아교육 현장에서 전래동요를 다양한 방법으로 활용한다면 유아의 언어발달에 효과가 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities on young children's language ability.
The research questions were as follows:
A. To what extent does integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities have effects on young children's language comprehension?
1) effects on young children's vocabulary comprehension
2) effects on young children's sentence comprehension
B. To what extent does integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities have effects on young children's language expression ability?
The subjects in the study were forty six four-to-five-year-old children from two mixed-age classes of "S" Kindergarten located in Osan City of Kyunggi Province. There was no significant difference between the experimental group and comparative group in the age and the pre-test.
To analyze the language comprehension, the author utilized the modified Peabody Picture Vocabulary Comprehension Test(l994) and the modified TOLD-2 Sentence Comprehension Test(1994). To analyze the language expression ability, the author utilized the Language Expression Ability Test by Jang Young-Ae(1981).
The experiment of integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities was carried out five times a week for six weeks(March 21 to June 22, 2001). The children of experimental group conducted the integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities and those of comparative group had the integrated nursery rhyme activities. After that, the author analyzed the scores between pre and post experiment by way of T -test.
The results of this study shall be shown as below:
First, the experimental group managed with integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities showed higher scores than the comparative group in the field of language comprehension including vocabulary and sentence comprehension..
Second, the integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities increased the language Expression ability.
Finally, this study indicated that integrated traditional nursery rhyme activities was very effective way to promote children's language ability such as language comprehension and language expression ability.
