The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of mother goose nursery rhymes and created children's songs upon children's music aptitude, including the tonal and rhythm aptitude. For the above purpose of study, research questuons were established as follows :
Do the mother goose nursery rhymes and created children's songs have significant effects on children's music aptitude?
1. Do the mother goose nursery rhymes and created children's songs have significant effects OR children's tonal aptitude?
2. Do the mother goose nursery rhymes and created children's songs have significant effects on children' s rhythm aptitude?
The subjects of this study were 54 4-year-old children. For measuring children's music aptitudes, PMMA(Primary Measures of Music Audiation) administered. PMMA which was made by Gordon(1986) consists of 40 questions.
The results were as follows; significant differences were found among the created children's song group, mother goose nursery rhymes group, and controll group. Especially the created children' song had the strongest effects on children' tonal and rhythm aptitudes, compared to mother goose nursery rhymes.
