The purpose of this study was to examine an influence on pro-social behavior and peer relation by extra curriculum sports activities for hight school boys. For accomplishing these purposes, the 338 subjects were selected using the multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling method from the hight school boys in seoul area.
The data for the study were collected through the survey questionnaires. For the data of sports pro-social behavior and peer relation for hight school boys, Pro-Social Behavior Scale standardized by Yang(1991) and Peer Relation Scale standardized by Gu(2000) were used.
The statistical methods utilized for testing the hypotheses were Cronbach's a, descriptive statistics, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's Correlate analysis using SPSS/PC^(+)10.0 Version.
From the analyses of the data, the conclusions of the study were obtained as follows.
First, peer relation's four sub-factor of hight school boys are partly different along with the extra curriculum sports activities. leadership(3.31±.56) and Confidence(3.48±.61) of extra curriculum Sports activities participants group are higher than leadership(3.07±.47) and confidence(3.15±.58) of extra curriculum sports activities non-participants group(p<.05).
Second, duration of extra curriculum sports activities of hight school boys is correlate along with leaderships(γ=.21), confidence(γ=.23), hostile attitude(γ=-.23) of peer relation's sub-factor(p<.05). but frequence and strength of extra curriculum sports activities of hight school boys are not correlate along with all peer relation's sub-factor(p>.05).
Third, pro-social behavior of hight school boys is different along with the extra curriculum sports activities. The pro-social behavior(3.58± .50) of extra curriculum sports activities participants group is higher than the pro-social behavior(3.31 ±.50) of extra curriculum sports activities non-participants group(p<.05).
Fourth, pro-social behavior of hight school boys are correlate along with duration(γ=.61, p<.05) of extra curriculum sports activities.
Fifth, pro-social behavior with extra curriculum sports activities participation of hight school boys are correlate with leadership(γ=.61), competition(γ=.28), confidence(γ=.50) of peer relation's sub-factor(p<.05).
Sixth, there are causal relationships among the extra curriculum sports activities for hight school boys, pro-social behavior and peer relation.
