This study is designed to analyze the current situation of physical education classes in accordance with the official satisfaction of elementary school teachers in full charge of P•E. during a period, and to shed light on the relationship between their official satisfaction and classes and to present progressive and rational measures in an effort to offer basic materials for the development of physical education. With this in mind, the researcher worked with two teachers with high official satisfaction and two teachers with low official satisfaction with in-depth interviews and descriptive researches as well as reference to relevant literature.
Collected materials were categorized into understanding of the curriculum, class plaining, class course, and. class evaluation, etc through the process of a case record analysis, and inductive categorical system in order to make an analysis of the actual condition of physical education in accordance with official satisfaction.
The finding are summarized as follows.
First, the participants' understanding of the curriculum turned out to stand high regardless of official satisfaction in regard to the value and purpose of elementary schools' physical education. But they turned out to have a very insufficient understanding of the contents of the curriculum or educational methods, whose degree proved to be worse as official satisfaction was lower. The curriculum was not operated according to the annual plans at large regardless of official satisfaction, and about 70 percent of the prescribed sessions were conducted.
Second, few analyses were made of the environment of study in the area of P•E. plans. And an analysis of students showed that there were more differences in accordance with the number of students than official satisfaction and the smaller the number of the students was, the more positively the analysis was analyzed. There was a big difference in the establishment of plans and the selection of instruction contents. The more satisfied the subjects were, the more sincere they were in classes. The subjects turned out to avail themselves of teaching guides but to make use of them only when drawing out yearly and weekly plans.
Third, teachers with high official satisfaction turned out to be more positive in the motivation of the P•E. curriculum. Teachers with low official satisfaction proved to ignore or neglect it. They turned out to leave out the finishing stage, and it was true to warming-up and finishing excercise: they just let students run around the ground or do national physical education. In terms of class methods, teachers with high official satisfaction gave positive feedback, while their counterparts gave more negative feedback. Teachers turned out to show examples to students when they had high sports performance, while subjects proved to have students do so when they had low sports performance. They turned out not to use questions, but to rely on their own explanation. They gave students three seconds for answering their questions. All the subjects were focused on preventing safety-related accidents and juvenile delinquencies. During the waiting period of time, they taught students to observe the activities of their fellow students who were supposed to answer teachers I problems.
Fourth, there was no big difference between P·E. evaluation and official satisfaction. Although all the subjects were aware of the importance of such evaluation, they turned out to bear many burdens in making evaluation. They stopped short of breaking away from the conventional way of evaluation. They put such evaluation to use when recording students I life registers or school reports instead of making use of it as a material for the reflection of their own classes.
