The purpose of this study was to investigate child's recognition and Attitude toward handicapped persons and to examine the effect of Anti-Bias Curriculum through Literature Approach on the Child's recognition and attitude toward handicapped persons.
The subjects were 54 nonhandicapped children who are 4 years old at the nonintegrated kindergartens in Seoul. 27 children were involved as a experimental group and 27 children were involved as a control group. The instrument was consisted of 「Survey of Child's Recognition toward Handicapped Persons」and 「Child's Attitude Scale toward Handicapped Persons」, which were used for the pre-test and post-test.
Data taken from first instrument were analyzed by frequencies and percentage to children's reaction in each question. Data taken from second instrument were analyzed by Means, standard deviation, t-test using SPSS program.
The results of this study were as follows :
1. Children awared handicapped persons, showed negative emotion to handicapped persons, and perceived to competence with handicapped persons uncertainly. After Anti-Bias Curriculum through Literature Approach, Children awared morely handicapped persons, showed positive emotion to handicapped persons, and increased to understand competence with handicapped persons.
2. Children showed negative attitude to handicapped persons. However, After Anti-Bias Curriculum through Literature Approach, Children showed effectively child's affirmative recognition and attitude changing.
The results indicated that Anti-Bias Curriculum through Literature Approach has an effect on the change of child's affirmative recognition and attitude.
