유산소성 운동과 저항성 운동이 신체조성, 혈중지질, leptin 및 동화성 호르몬에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 비만 여중생(30명)을 대상으로 달리기 운동과 덤벨체조를 각 집단에게 10주 동안 적용시켰다. 유산소성 운동집단은 1∼5주 동안은 최대심박수의 50∼60%, 6∼10주 동안은 61∼70% 강도로 달리기 운동, 저항성 운동집단은 1∼5주 동안은 1kg 중량,6∼10주 동안은 2kg의 중량을 이용한 12개 종목의 덤벨체조를 실시하였다. 운동 빈도는 주4회씩 지속시간은 40∼50분 (min/day)으로 하였다. 운동기간, 운동형태에 따라 신체조성(체중, 체지방율, 지방량, 허리/엉덩이 둘레비), 혈중지질(TC, TG, HDL-C), leptin 및 동화성 호르몬 (GH, IGF-I, insulin)의 변화를 비교 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
첫째, 신체조성의 변화에서 10주 운동 후에 체중, 체지방율, 지방량, WHR의 변인들은 두 운동집단에서 모두 유의하게 감소하였지만(p<0.05), 운동기간에 따른 두 운동집단간 차이는 없었다.
둘째, 혈중지질의 변화에서 10주 운동 후에 TC, TG 농도는 두 운동집단에서 모두 유의하게 감소하였지만(p<0.05), 운동기간에 따른 두 운동집단간 차이는 없었다. 한편 HDL-C는 10주 운동 후에 두 운동집단에서 모두 유의하게 증가하였지만(p<0.05), 운동기간에 따른 두 운동집단간 차이는 없었다.
셋째, leptin의 변화에서 10주 운동 후에 두 운동집단에서 모두 유의하게 감소하였 지만(p<0.01), 운동기간에 따른 두 운동집단간 차이는 없었다.
넷째, 동화성 호르몬의 변화에서 5주와 10주 운동 후에 GH, IGF-I 농도는 두 운동집단에서 모두 유의하게 증가하였지만(p<0.05), 운동기간에 따른 두 운동집단간 차이는 없었다. 한편 Insulin은 두 운동집단에서 모두 유의하게 감소하였지만(p<0.01), 운동기간에 따른 두 운동집단간 차이는 없었다.
이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 달리기 운동 및 덤벨체조 운동이 신체조성, 혈중지질, leptin 및 동화성 호르몬에 유의한 변화를 가져왔으며, 특히 동화성 호르몬 (GH, IGF-I, insulin)의 농도 변화는 두 운동집단에서 각각 5주 이후부터 유의하게 변화되는 양상을 보였다. 즉 규칙적인 유산소성 운동과 저항성 운동은 기초대사와 지방분해 능력 및 근육량, 제지방 조직, 에너지 소비율, 지방질 이용의 증가를 통해 신체조성, 혈중지질, leptin 및 동화성 호르몬에 긍정적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 달리기 운동과 마찬가지로 덤벨체조 운동도 건강개선, 비만 관련 인자 및 비만치료에 크게 기여할 것으로 사료된다.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of aerobic exercise and resistance exercise on the body composition, blood lipid, leptin and anabolic hormone.
The subjects for this study were thirty obesity girl students and divided into 3 groups: Control group(N=10), aerobic exercise(running) group(N=10) and resistance exercise(dumbbell) group(N=10) for 10 weeks. The aerobic exercise group performed running 40∼50 min in a bout, four times a week at the intensity of 50∼70% HRmax(1-5 week; 50∼60% HRmax, 6∼10 week; 61∼70% HRmax). The resistance exercise group performed dumbbell exercise consisting 12 item using 1∼2kg weight(l∼5 weeks; 1kg, 6-10 weeks; 2kg). And the change of body composition such as weight, %fat, fat mass, WHR, and blood lipids such as TC, HDL-C, TG, leptin and anabolic hormone such as GH, IGF - I, Insulin have been measured before, by post exercise 5 weeks and 10 weeks respectively.
Statistical techniques for data analysis were One-way ANOVA exercise duration(before, 5 weeks, 10 weeks) and repeated measure ANOVA to determine the difference between the aerobic exercise group and the resistance exercise group. The 5% level of significance was utilized as the critical level for acceptance of hypotheses for the study.
The following results were obtained from this study.
1. The change of body composition in the aerobic exercise group and the resistance exercise group were decreased significantly after 10 weeks of exercise. That is, body composition such as body weight(4.8kg, p<0.05; 4.7kg, p<0.0l), %fat(4.9%, p<0.05; 4.4%, p<0.01), fat mass(4.0kg, p<0.05; 4.1kg, p<0.01), and WHR(0.069, p<0.0l; 0.071, p<0.01) were decreased significantly after 10 weeks respectively, but there was no significant difference between two exercise groups.
2. The change of blood lipids(TC, TG) in the aerobic exercise group and the resistance exercise group were decreased significantly after 10 weeks of exercise. That is, blood lipids such as TC(38.0mg/ml p<0.05; 49.2mg/ml, p<0.01) and TG(58.9mg/ml, p<0.01; 61.4mg/ml, p<0.01) were decreased significantly after 10 weeks respectively, but there was no significant difference between two groups. And, HDL-C was increased 15.3mg/dl(p<0.01), 17.3mg/dl(p<0.01) respectively, but this too had no significant difference.
3. The change of leptin in the aerobic exercise group and the resistance exercise group was decreased significantly after 10 weeks of exercise. That is, the concentration of leptin was decreased 7.2ng/ml(p<0.01), 10.9ng/ml(p<0.01) respectively, but no significant difference was found between two groups.
4. The change of anabolic hormone(GH, IGF - I) in the aerobic exercise group and the resistance exercise group were increased significantly after exercise 5 week and 10 weeks. That is, anabolic hormone such as GH(5.9ng/ml, p<0.0l; 3.0ng/ml, p<0.01) and IGF-I(56.77ng/ml, p<0.05 ; 72.2ng/ml, p<0.0l) were decreased significantly after 5 weeks respectively, but there was no significant difference between two exercise groups after 10 weeks. Also, the concentraion of Insulin n the aerobic exercise group and the resistance exercise group was decreased 10.9 ,μIU/ml(p<0.0l), 10.3 ,μIU/ml respectively, but no significant difference appeared between two groups. And, anabolic hormone such as GH(9.2ng/ml, p<0.0l; 9.9ng/ml, p<0.0l) or IGF-I(153.lng/ml, p<0.05; 144.8ng/ml, p<0.0l) were decreased significantly after 10 weeks respectively, but no significant difference was found after 10 weeks between the two groups. Also, the concentration of Insulin n the aerobic exercise group and the resistance exercise group was decreased 15.8μIU/ml(p<0.0l), 16.1μIU/ml respectively, but there was no significant difference between two exercise groups after 10 weeks.
These results suggest that on body composition, blood lipids, leptin and anabolic hormone in both aerobic exercise and resistance exercise for 10 weeks affects obesity middle girl students. On the other hand, regular exercise regardless of exercise type are influenced in body composition, blood lipids, leptin, anabolic hormone for increase of REE, BMR, LBM, muscle mass, lipolysis, utilization of fat.
Therefore, resistance exercise using dumbbell exercise as well as aerobic exercise should be available for improvement of health and treatment of obesity.
