공업고등학교 학생들의 진로의식에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1. 연구 문제
본 연구의 주된 목적은 장래를 계획하고 준비하는 공업고등학교 학생들에게 진로 선택 과정, 공업고등학교 진학에 대한 만족도, 장래 진로 의식을 설문을 통해 조사 분석하여 공업고등학교에서 이루어지는 진로 교육의 방향과 내용을 탐색하고 바람직한 진로 의식을 함양시켜 자신의 적성과 능력에 맞는 진로를 선택하도록 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있었다. 이와 같은 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다.
1) 학생들이 공업고등학교로 진로를 선택한 과정은 어떠한가?
2) 학생들의 공업고등학교 교육에 대한 만족도는 어떠한가?
3) 학생들의 장래 진로 의식은 어떠한가?
2. 연구 방법
표집 대상은 경기도 내에 소재하고 있는 공업고등학교 중 시지역 2개교와 읍 이하 지역 2개교에서 1,3학년 학생을 대상으로 2000년 4월 1일부터 4월 30일 까지 본 조사를 실시하였고, 설문지를 총 470매를 배부하여 438매를 회수하였으며, 회수된 설문지를 검토한 결과 부적합한 14매를 제외한 424매 만을 분석하였다.
조사 도구로 사용한 설문지는 선행 연구자들의 설문 내용을 참고하여 본 연구의 목적에 맞게 3개 영역 23문항을 작성한 후 지도 교수의 조언을 받아 수정 보완하여 사용하였다.
통계 처리는 SPSS 프로그램에 의한 빈도수, 백분율, χ^2, 유의도 등을 검증하였다.
3. 연구 결과
이 연구의 결과 다음과 같았다.
첫째, 공업고등학교로 진로를 선택한 과정을 보면 공고 진학 결정 시기는 대부분 원서 교부 기간 중이고, 공고로 지원 시 교육 과정의 인지 정도는 대충 알고 지원한 것으로 나타났으며, 공고로 진로 선택 시 영향을 준 요인은 스스로 결정하였으며, 공고로 진학하게 된 직접적인 동기가 대부분 학업성적 부진 때문으로 나타났다.
둘째, 공업고등학교 재학 상태에 대한 만족도를 보면 공고 진학에 대한 만족도는 보통이고, 공고를 진학한 것에 만족한 이유는 취업 전망이 좋아서로 나타났으며, 전공 교과에 대한 흥미는 보통이고, 공고에서 가장 중요시하는 교육 내용은 기능사 자격 취득으로 나타났다.
셋째, 장래 진로 의식을 보면 공업고등학교 졸업 후 진로 선택은 전공 관련 진학이고, 진학하는 이유로는 좋은 직장에 취직하기 위해서로 나타났으며, 공고 졸업 후 취업 시 업종 선택은 전공 관련 취업이고, 취업하는 이유는 훌륭한 기능인이 되기 위해서이며, 진학 또는 취업으로의 진로 결정은 대부분 스스로 결정하는 것으로 나타났으며, 자신의 진로 결정을 좌우하는 요인은 적성과 능력으로 나타났다.
또한 공업고등학교의 졸업 학력과 성공 가능성에 대한 인식은 충분히 성공할 수 있다로 나타났으며, 장래의 직업 선택 시 가치 기준은 직업의 장래성 및 안정성으로 나타났고, 부모님이 기대하는 학생의 직업은 전문 기술직으로 나타났다.
4. 결론
위와 같은 결과로 볼 때 다음과 같은 결론을 내릴 수 있다.
첫째, 공업고등학교에는 적성에 맞는 학생이 진학하여 공업고등학교의 궁극적인 목표인 우수한 기능 인력이 많이 배출되어야 하며, 이를 위해서는 공업고등학교 졸업생의 처우에 대한 획기적인 제도의 개선이 필요하다고 판단되었다.
둘째, 공업고등학교 재학하는 것에 적응하지 못하는 학생들에게 그 원인을 조사·분석하여, 적절한 진로 선택 교육이 강화되어야 하겠다고 판단되었다.
셋째, 공업고등학교 졸업후 진로 계획에서는 대부분의 학생이 진학을 희망하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 우리 사회에 만연되어 있는 인문 선호의 사고 방식이 팽배하기 때문이며, 공업고등학교에 대한 사회 인식의 개선이 요구되었다.
또한 공업고등학교 학생들이 갖는 직업 가치관에서는 천직이라는 의식, 직업에 대한 장래성 및 안정성, 적성과 흥미 등을 가치 기준으로 삼고 있는 것으로 보아 밝은 미래를 전망할 수 있다 하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

1. Aims of this study
This study aimed at investigating technical high school students' career decision process, satisfaction with entrance of technical high schools and career perception in the future in order to provide basic materials that can help students make their own career decision.
The questions of this study were as follows:
1). What makes students apply for the technical high school?
2). Are students satisfied with the curriculum in technical high school?
3). What about student's career perception in the future?
2. Method of this study
Four hundred eighty three students of 4 technical high schools in Kyeonggi-do answered the questionnaire.
3. Results of this study
The result of this study were given below :
First, it proved that, observed from the process to be entered at technical high schools, a period of decision to apply for technical high schools was during the delivery of application for admission and the degree of recognition about curriculum in technical high schools was very low. so mostly low exam results was the decisive factor in an application.
Second, students being in technical high schools felt satisfaction with entering the school and were interested in the subjects in major. It represented that most important thing(course) of curriculum is to obtain a qualification to technical expert.
Third, students' career selection graduated from technical high schools was going to colleges related to a major in high school and that was caused by getting good jobs. It showed that to go to colleges or get a job made themselves a decision and that factor was their aptitude and ability. Also the standard for job selection in the future was developing possibility and stability. students' parents expected them professional engineers.(technical experts)
4. Conclusion
The conclusions were as follows :
First, it is necessary to introduce innovational system of students' treatment after graduation. Therefore students interested in technical high schools should apply for and be developed as excellent human resources.
Second, the appropriate career guidance should be provided for students who can't adjust to technical high schools.
Third, most students wanted to enter colleges after graduation from technical high schools. So there should be systematic help for them. Society centered ability, not education background, should be made through improvement of social perception about technical high schools.
And students considered the prospects and stability of jobs, aptitude and interest of job and perception that their jobs are true vocation etc. as valuables in viewpoint of value of jobs. It is certain that this would make a bright future in career decision making.
