아시아 전래동화의 분석 = (AN) ANALYSIS OF ASIAN FOLK TALES

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 문헌을 통하여 전래동화의 특징을 아동문학상의 전래동화, 전래동화의 기원, 정착화 과정, 종류, 요소(주제, 구성, 인물, 문체)로 나누어 살펴보고 전래동화의 예술적 가치, 오락적 가치, 도덕적 가치, 욕구만족으로서의 가치를 정리하여 이론적 배경으로 다루었다.
본론에서 아시아 전래동화를 택하여 일반적인 전래동화의 주제, 인물, 문체(표현방식), 환상적 요소에 비추어 분석하고 아시아의 역사적, 종교적, 문화적(文化的) 배경의 특수성에 기인된 특이한 문화적(文化的) 소산을 찾아 보았다.
본 연구의 결과, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다.
첫째, 주제(主題)면에서 일반 전래동화와 마찬가지로 권선징악(勸善徵惡)의 주제를 가장 많이 다루었다. 다음은 지혜의 가치이다.
둘째, 인물(人物)면에서 일반 전래동화에 등장하는 인간, 의인화된 동물, 무생물, 초현실적 존재, 요술적인 장소, 신비적인 물건이 모두 등장하고 있다. 그러나 왕과 관계된 이야기가 많고, 의인화된 동물중에는 호랑이가 가장 많은 것이 특색이다.
셋째, 표현방식(表現方式)은 일반 전래동화에서와 같이 대립법, 반복법, 의인법, 상투적인 서두어와 결어, 셋의 형식이 쓰였으며 접층법(漸層法)도 있다.
넷째, 환상적(幻想的) 요소로는 의인화된 동물, 무생물, 초현실적 존재, 요술적인 장소, 신비적인 물건이 있다. 그 외에 식물의 기원양식, 신비한 동물, 요술동물, 변형(transformation)의 요술(magic), 마술적인 힘의 소유와 사용, 하늘나라, 용궁과 현세의 시간 개념차등이 있다.
다섯째, 문화적(文化的) 소산으로 피압박의 역사가 반영되었으며, 종교적으로는 애니미즘(animism)과 혼합된 세계종교 유교, 도교, 힌두교, 불교, 이슬람교, 그리스트교등이 동화속에 반영되어 있다. 여성의 지위는 낮게 취급되며, 결혼이 신부의 의사와 관계없이 이루어지는 경우가 많음을 보여준다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research is to analyze folk tales which are often told by parents to their children. These tales are often included in the curriculum of early childhood education at the various educational institutes. The research has been made by referring to various documents about folklore and studying their characteristics and their educational values.
The characteristics of folk tales can be determined by studying their definition, origin, a process of becoming fixed, theme, character, plot and style. It appears that folk tales have artistic, ethical and recreational value. The folk tales from 15 Asian countries were analyzed.
The results are as follows:
1) The two most popular themes in Asian folk tales are the promotion of virtue and reproval of vice. The next popular theme is one showing the value of wisdom.
2) Characters are drawn from many soruces such as many beings, the personification of animals and inanimate objects. And there are the form of supernatural beings, magical artifacts, mystical places. In the Asian folk tales studied, many stories have a close association with Kings. Tigers were the most common form of personified characters.
3) The mode of expression is shown by contrast, personification and repetition as well as the form of three, conventional beginning and ending of stories.
4) The element of fantasy is expressed by personification of animals and inanimate objects, supernatural beings, mystical places, magical objects, mystical animals with magical properties, magic of transformation, possessions and employments of magical powers, different temporal conception between the Sea God's palace and the real world.
5) The history of appression reflects a social element in Asian folk tales. In so for as religion is concerned we must, consider different world concepts such as Animism, Confucianism, Thacism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity. These are reflected in the folk tales. The status of women is low in many cases, for example marriages are arranged regardless of the bride's opinion.
